Cranleigh, Bournemouthback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Service is inconsistent - sometimes good (dependent on which staff are on), sometimes really poor and very slow. Certain staff consistently pour short measures and seem ambivalent to obligations under Weights and Measures despite being asked/politely reminded/told (because they just don't get it!) plenty of times by regulars. More staff time spent at end of bar nattering than on service (tables/glasses not cleared for hours). Hoped for better since refurbishment. New management need to wake-up and properly manage service from top-down. Management rarely seen and, when working, often guilty of all of the above failings. Forget refits and gimmicks - please concentrate on some sort of service/quality or pub will fail.

I totally agree with the last comment, as a local I use the pub virtually everyday. I am now pleased to say that the lady with a smacked a.... has gone and we have a young couple called Stuart & Cheryl. They have brought the life back to the pub, the pool tables are back, the atmosphere has completley changed, we even have a pinball machine. I would say to anyone that was barred for breathing by the last landlady, try it again as you will notice a huge difference. The previous landlady nearly lost us our local and unfortunately she kept blaming the brewery, we have now found out that it was her. The food is now really good and dispite all the negative things that the previous landlady did, we are getting are regulars back. Come in for a pint and see for yourself.

Face like a smacked a*** is an insult to ar**s. Landlady is probably the worst in England. Never going back. Food was like eating cardboard slippers.

I'm a young local. Agree very much with the comments from john. The locals of all ages welcome new comers. John the barman is still there but is on the other side of the bar. if you ever wanna visit a nice community pub then this is the place!! Leighton get us a pint in!!!

Large and friendly community pub. Big screen for the footie. Last time I was there the food was basic but excellent value for money. John the barman (if he is still there) is a gem. Good cross section of locals of all ages drink here. Also put a great spread on Sunday's for the pub footie team. Used to have Flowers at 1.50 a pint but don't know if this is still the case.
