The White Horse has now been knocked down, and they are building on the spot. There are no people who regret its death. It was on a bad spot anyway by the railway bridge. Pokesdown must be one of the lowest areas in Bournemouth - and I once unhappily lived there.

Is it a good thing that this place is now closed? Where are the regulars going to move on to? If it's The Bell then frankly who cares but perhaps it's time to batten down the hatches at the Malt & Hops and The Cranleigh

I feel the same way as the others, and it is a good thing that it is now closed. The amazing thing is that it had lasted for so long. It never got any of the holiday trade - and was largely for boozers.

The Horse is the pick of the bunch in Boscombe/Pokesdown. Certainly improved over the last couple of years. Some barking punters mind, like the bloke who wants an independent State of Pokesdown. If this place goes then Pokesdown will fall.

How do these places still exist in this day and age? The whole place is falling to pieces, one of the windows at the front of the pub has been smashed through and just boarded up. Fruit machine, jukebox and pool table in one bar. The other was closed. Claire Rayner should relocate here as everyone seems to have a tale of woe. This is a Carlsberg/Tetley outlet with the usual range of ales you'd expect to find.
