Shut for a while now reopened under temporary management, guess the mediterranian gastro pub idea didn't work then......... could have told them that when they opened! Now green king which spent loads with new gastro pub signage have to take it all down and start again, wish people would research the local area before coming up with these "good" ideas.

very nice, food reasonably priced, but drinks expensive.

Popped in here May 2010 but pub under new ownership as a Greene King tenancy. The pub had had a bit of a clean up and is apparently now going to focus on food but will face some stiff competition from the excellent Castle at the top of the hill and the nearby Grapes. Decor is very minimalist but maybe the owners are in the process of buying pictures, nic nacs etc. The signage outside the pub has been replaced and is in the usual Greene King house style. The jury is out but I think they are going to have to work very hard to make a success of it based on this formula. Good luck! Meanwhile, in Bradford on Avon pub related news, The Bear is apparently going to re open this summer after a long period of closure (3 years?).

Visited this pub for the first time yesterday, while out on a day's walk. I was very impressed by the friendliness of the landlady, and by the quality of the beer. I had a pint of GK St Edmunds - a new line, I believe, and certainly new to me - it was excellent and in great condition; it was my lucky day, as I was given a second pint free to promote the new beer!
This pub has all the positive characteristics of a traditional town pub, and seems to be kept absolutely clean and tidy. If you don't already know it, and have the opportunity, then do give it a try. I think I shall be making the trip from Bath more often!

Excellent pub. Stopped off there one Sunday a little while back and can confirm the gorgeous dark haired girls are indeed well fit. Particulalry the shorter one who looks like Demi Moore only prettier.

an era is about to come to an end - lets hope whoever takes over from Cliff keeps up the good work he has done in establishing the kings as your traditional boozer welcoming to locals and waifs and strays alike

Best local in the world ever - even got a Scots Corner. Think I spotted the dark haired beauties referred to by anon poster.

Great local pub with friendly landlord and lovely locals. Two gorgeous girls spotted there on a Sunday afternoon.
