A totally different pub since Tony took it over. Friendly, spotlessly clean. Excellent beer at a very reasonable price. Great live music on a regular basis. Close to the town centre & well worth a visit
NEW LANDLORD AND THE PLACE GOT A MUCH NEEDED REVAMP MORE BEERS ON AND THE PLACE IS CLEAN AT LAST,AN OLD SCHOOL PUB THAT IS GREAT FOR LIVE MUSIC ON A SATURDAY NIGHT
I beleive they operate an age bar here, you have to be over 80 to be allowed in.
I remember this from my previous visit as a fairly miserable 'locals' pub with a selection of Arkell's beers. It now only has 3B on draught.
Very 'clicky' locals pub with rubbish beer.
Tends to be quite dirty.
Landlady's boyfriend (he's about 70 !) insists on playing his bl**dy accordian.

It's about time to update my reviews of some of these places. As it happens this is much the same as it was still not worth going out of your way for.
Rubbish beer, but always seems to have a bunch of Irish folkies playing away! Good fun, but stick to the bottles...
Small locals pub, Arkells, not bad but not worth going out of your way for. Bit dingy.
