After visiting the Cock & Pullet in Sheldon (not listed on here) with its multitude of clocks, we moved onto the Bulls Head, our final pub of the night. This is a 2-room Robinsons establishment, where staff and customers were friendly enough. Ales were Robinsons Trooper, Dizzy Blonde & Wizard & Hartleys Cumbrian XB.

Got there just before 3:00 pm closing, ordered a pint and a half, cost 5.50. It's that kind of pub I suppose.

A Robinson's pub. Had a pint of Old Stockport followed by a pint of Unicorn, both well kept although the Old Stockport was a bit bland for my taste. Both the snack and main menus seemed imaginative.
|
Walked in, had a look around, decided to go to the other pub in the village across the road.

had lunch here today. i think this pub could be living on past good reviews. we ordered chicken breast, very bland, the chicken was dry, the roast potatoes were weird and the meal not very hot. I thought it not worth the 11 each we were charged. Sorry but wont go again

Robinson's pub close to the centre of this pleasant village. Like a lot of their rural places, it's foody in the evening but retains a great deal of traditional character, the two separate rooms filled with old jugs, plates, traditional old pictures and wood panelling, as well as a beamed ceiling Red lamps add to the character. The tap room and lounge room are served by a central bar, serving Old Stockport, Dragon's Fire and Unicorn on my visit- not the best selection in the area, but then this is Robbies! All were well-kept, however, and the food was very good too. Various books on Peak district pubs and Robinson's Brewery are at the bar. I enjoyed my visit here, found the service food and beer to be excellent, and would recommend it if you're in the area.

Small friendly pub which does top quality Robinsons beer.
|
Small warm and welcoming pub serving superb food and well kept beer. Ideal for an evening meal in excellent surroundings.

Traditional village pub just as it should be. Nice beamed room with lots of old photographs and other details, but also a large garden. Great village atmosphere, with the Sunday Times available for patrons. The food may be a bit pricy, but is really very good. The sardines with potatoe salad I had was absolutely mouthwatering. I don't agree with the views expressed with regard to Robinson's ales: the Old Stockport bitter available here is a classic example of how an honest oldfashioned bitter ale should be and it tasted formidable. The other two were very tasty too.

friendly unspolit country pub with cheerful mixture of locals and walkers...food good quality if a touch on the pricey side
|
Rather upmarket for Robinsons; very pleasant but beer average (suffering in the heat ?)
|
Consistently high standard of food, pub is only let down by its beer imo, Robinsons is a very poor pint in comparison with what is available elsewhere in the area.
