Egerton Arms, Salfordback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
The pub interior is certainly unique, it looks like an old theatre of some sort. It's a big room of a pub with a larger open space on one side of the horseshoe shaped bar, and a smaller space with a pool table and telly on the other. Warning to anyone who doesn't like Manchester United, there's a fair bit of memorabilia dedicated to them. As a pub it is nice, very locally with the barman using profanity towards his punts, nothing that bothers me. The prices are the best in this area as well. They also show The Chase, not much more you can ask for!

A survivor, all pubs in Salford were once like this, there were hundreds of them, sadly now mostly gone.

This was the last of the Salford pubs we ventured into on our crawl back in August. A Holts pub, so wasn't expecting great things on the ale front, despite the promise of guest ales in addition to the Holts range.
Five pumps were on, we went for a pint of ITI New Zealand Pale Ale, which I have since discovered is by Hawkshead Brewery.
Despite its location it felt strangely like an estate pub on our Saturday night visit, with a DJ on and couples of a certain age sat in silence next to each other. Perhaps wouldn't rush to go back, but another one ticked off the list, and no issue with the pint I had.

Like many tourists my only experience of Salford has been the gaudy Quays area. This year I ventured a bit further & found this lively old boozer near the railway station. Populated entirely by men of a certain age, all chatting loudly about football, horses & other blokey stuff. Polite service from a friendly bar man & a fairly decent pint of Holt's Bitter (2.50). Probably best left to the locals, but if I was one I'd be happy with it.

When I used to work at the nearby Peninsula Business Services this used to be a firm favourite both for a pub lunch and a couple before being squashed on the train home! The chicken curry half rice half chips was excellent and good value too! OK so its a Holt's pub but they do brew a cracking dark beer called 6xs in a bottle 6%!

cheap and cheerful, decent holts ale. one for united fans

This pub sits in a sidestreet by Salford Central Railway Station. Holt's was the only ale available on pump, and the pint I had was perfectly fine. There was a cabaret singer belting out pop songs (including an Abba medley for Chrissakes). A Bez lookalike tried to sell us a jar of Nescafe for two quid and then sold two jars to a bloke at the bar. Some unkempt old man came and sat beside us wearing a Bluetooth headset. Bizarre. A less than glorious end to our Manchester sojourn.

Traditional Northern boozer right by Salford Central railway station. Central bar serves two distinct rooms, one with a pool table. Holt's house so the usual cheap, reliable real ale. A rarity when one looks at the sad state of Chapel Street , with its multitude of closed boozers.

Small cosy pub with B&B just at the side of Salford Train Station near Chapel Street.
