One room pub with a nice suntrap beer garden in front. Hidden away down a narrowish lane from Hay Tor. Nice pint of Legend to wash down a very pleasant and reasonably priced lunch. Friendly staff and a nice mix of locals and tourists. Worth a visit.

What a crackin' place when we visiited last Saturday evening. Lucky to get a couple of seats by the lovely fire. Two beers from Otter - Ale and Amber, and Dartmoor Jail. Seems to be a well run community local. Worth seeking out. 8/10.

Yes this is a lovely little place off the tourist trap. If you can get a seat in the tiny beer garden it is very pleasant when the sun is out.
8/10

Classic old English country pub. liked it a lot. Food is good and cheap, Otter ales from the barrel.

Good local. Friendly and helpful landlord.Nice beer. What more could you want? We ate there and the food wasn't bad either.Typical pub food.Nothing to rave about, but not much to complain about either. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun in the tiny beer garden at the front. Lovely village.Did I mention the beer was very nice?Well it was.

We visited this Pub on a trip to the UK May 2008, we are tracing our family roots and my great grandfather ( William George Waldron)was the blacksmith at this pub in around 1884.

Visited this pub in November 07 (several times over the weekend!). Lovely! Nice friendly staff and locals and superb cider- Heron Valley and Inchs. Looking forward to returning.

Popped in here after some friends wedding @ Ilsington Church(next door 2 the pub). Friendly service and a gr8 pint of Otter, 7/10.

We really rate this Pub. After a long walk over Hounds Tor this is a great place to retire to. Its not easy to find but well worth it. The beer is consistently good (Otters) and whilst the menu is always the same the quality is good and prices very reasonable. Saturday night always seems to have the same people so it must be good.
