The Peterboat is basically a very large restaurant with a bar and barely no seating for none diners, so not really the place for 4 blokes who had no intention of eating!
1pm on a Saturday afternoon and it’s jammed packed with everyone eating, plus the fire was on full blast and was blinking hot.
5 ales on across the 8 hand pumps, my first choice of Portobello's VPA was right at the end of the barrel and undrinkable, so I had a pint of Nethergate’s Old Growler which I can happily report was much more drinkable.
To the front is a large decking area overlooking the sea which I am told is very popular in the summer.
A decent choice of ales but this really isn’t a pub, so if you visit just for a beer be warned that a seat may be hard to find. I've given it a low score based on a pub.

Nice pub with lovely outside area looking over the estuary. Toilets were very clean and tidy. Plenty of people eating and looking contented. I didn't eat anything myself though so can't really comment. Beer selection wasn't the best and the pint of Wherry Bitter I had wasn't that good. Could be so much better with a few decent beers on tap.

A decent pub with a large beer garden overlooking the Thames. Cask ales too.

Now under new ownership and what a difference! Some major improvments - some much needed refurbishment has taken place which makes for a more pleasurable experience and the staff now more plentiful and friendlier.

This pub is lovely, I've been goin here for about roughly 5years, bar staff have always been friendly and have a good laugh between them which creates a good atmosphere. Good for families, good food with plenty of choice and they are generous helpings. Good size restaurant inside with a few seats for bar drinkers, and as previously mentioned good seating outside with great views! I highly recommend this pub/restaurant to any persons of all ages.

Nice pub, went there for the first time last week, great food and very good staff.

A really nice pub. Huge outside area, which makes it the best place in Leigh on a summers day. The only problem is that on such days, getting served at the bar can take 30 mins or more. If the landlord is reading this then take a suggestion from me and copy the queing system used by the Crooked Billet when its busy.

I'll qualify that last review, staff are usually very busy, but not always friendly! Some of the female staff look soooo miserable and can be huffy. As with The Smack, the gents toilets are a disgrace.

My favourite of the Old Leigh pubs, a large outside area which is lovely in summer and when the tide is in. Inside has some character, there's a good choice of beers and food, staff are usually very busy but are always friendly.

This pub is probably one of the best in the leigh area, again, if it's a nice summers day there isn't a better place to be. Good food and quick service, but it does get rather packed on a nice day but there's plenty of space outside, there isn't a pub in the area with such a big outdoor seating area.

OK pub, very good ale, prices better than the others in old leigh. Recently has been a target for young males out to cause a bit of trouble. Perfect summer pub with good beers and a brilliant beer garden come car park.

Arrived last sunday eve to find Regatta on. Chaos!! 3 deep at the bar but the staff (those that were serving) did their best to serve everyone in turn. Had a pint of Adnams Broadside before it ran out then was left Courage (the only ale left) but even this tasted good so being well kept. Nothing special about the food - the last seafood stall had just closed.

What a marvelous location for a pub - right by the riverside. Very busy on summer evenings, but there is plenty of extra boozing space around the car park. There are still some stalls open nearby where you can get fresh seafood during the day, and you cannot get better than Leigh on Sea.
