This Pub has to be the nicest and oldest pub in the area unfortunatley its run by people who dont care that it is filthy and the music is blaring out so you have to shout to each other and thats just in the afternoon! Usually full of dolies and students.

wow.was looking for somewhere good to go on a nite out with sum m8s, low and behold the counting house appeared on here and mr blaze and spink..god its been a while...hello to everyone..i fear though mr blaze that i might have to disagree with bringing squirrel back..i quite liked that crazy old couple back in the day that ran before san and helen ran it..but anyway i remember a really old rocker that used to be the door man...and is dylan still doing that quiz>?anyway if you havent been to the counting house you should. but dont get locked in there alone at night rather terrifying

Music is ok, beer is shit, but cheap. Nothin special, could do with a good clean and even a refit.

imagine the front row seat of any of a multitude of hot bands, now double the sound level, now swap those things we call ear drums and buy some dirt cheap drinks, excellent!!! deffinatly worth a visit, if you don't like it at first , give it a few drinks and then try leaving it

bit of mystery how this relic of a place ended up as a pub in the first place...the great local bands who play (loudly) are bound to bring the place down around our heads one of these days...A great pub, one of my favourites.

I love this pub in my old home town of Pontefract. Its very quaint and certainly has character. Definitely one to visit yourself!!

Quite possibly one of the oldest pubs in England with one or two resident ghosts. very festive...go check this place out!!
