Can anyone tell me was there a pub near here called The (something)Bells ??????? It was a few years ago now.

HAS NOW CLOSED AND REOPENED AS PRINCESS ALICE

I have to disagree with OzAngel, having gone to the City Darts for years on and off I have to say its taken a nose dive. Sure it looks much better, its cleaner and thank the gods they've taken the DJ booth out. But the landlord is a right tosser who is only there to look good infront of his friends. He treated myself and myfriends with utter disrespect to the point where we left. Its a shame, because its otherwise a nice pub, used to have lunch there quite often and it was great for wathing football.

I do use this pub and find it very friendly and its better now its gone back to the princess alice

I remember this when it was a skinhead pub called the Princess Alice(after the ship that sank in the thames). That was the early to mid 80's, not a bad boozer. If i'm in the area, its one i use!!

hmm, proper pub frontage, staff friendly, not cheap but not pretentious either. Not a lot to choose from in the immediate vicinity (I mean a few hundred yards) but probably worth walking up towards Spitalfields instead (away from Aldgate).

all the easynet crew meet here after work. and they get my boyfriend drunk without giving a care in the world that he drives home afterwards! nice pub though.

Visited on saturday and it inspired me to register with beer in the evening. Rude service, filthy pub, 7 for 1 pint strongbow and small red wine !!
|
Reasonable pub, better if you like throwing darts about. Better pint than crap 10 Bells on last occassion

This pub is absolutely brilliant!! Me, Madders and Thorno were down there last Friday throwing a few arrows. Great atmosphere, friendly darts loving punters. Hopefully we'll get Wolfie and the rest of the IWDF down in the new year! 10/10

Easily the best pub I found in the scout of at least half a dozen in the area. Two (2!!!) pool tables is a pleasant sight, although it somewhat feels like you're playing in your parents' spare bedroom given the lack of space at times. The juke box was a bit desperate, but the Courage Best was perfectly drinkable, and that's not always something I admit to.

This is one of the best pubs in the City. The staff, atmosphere and other customers are the best. It's friendly, local and spot on. Some of the sexiest bar men in the City too!!

This pub is legendary - one night when I was there, I had the best night of my adult life so far.

Great pub, great darts and generally great East End atmosphere. No wine bar customer in sight.

Flukily won a dart's match in here once. Opponent was huge so didn't mention that he therefore owed me 1/2 a pint.
