Never really bother with this place when I'm in Manchester but because it's become cask marque I thought I'd scan it to my collection. On entering it's quite a nice clean place with 2 hand pumps in action one from Tim Taylor and the other black sheep. The girl behind the bar didn't have a clue what cask marque was even when I showed her a picture of the certificate. To make matters worse she served our ale in a CARLING glass. Beer was average.

Not a bad drinking hole could be better though! Wonderful friendly staff and very clean, comfortable outside area with nice surroundings. Let down by high prices and consistently running out of draft products! Seems to be a fault on the parent companies side, another victory for Enterprise Inns!

The pub in the hotel is clean, nice beer and the bar staff are pretty friendly. There also is a nice lounge to relax in while watchin the football on the big screen. I know it's in a great location but why does that mean the beer has to be so expensive? My advice?.....Have a few and move on to somewhere that dosn't rip you off.

What can I say except beds by the hour above a funeral home. Just don't get the two confused or else you might get arrested for necrophilia in one, and receive misplaced sympathy in the other.

Interesting location near the cathedral but the pub has the atmosphere of a morgue. Upstairs, the "2 or 3 star" rooms appear to double as by the hour rentals, stink of urine, and are barely cared for by disinterested desk staff. Actually, the rooms evoked fond memories of times on the dole in a dank and mouldy Crumpsall bedsit.

no real ales anymore here. Has Sky sports and does food

Stayed in the hotel 1 night - the pub is small and nothing special. My 14 y.o. son was not allowed in the pub even in the daytime, despite the fact that we were guests at the hotel! The cathedral next door is more welcoming.

Can anyone tell me why...on St Georges day... why me, my wife and 3 kids weren't allowed in the Mitre Hotel for a drink. We asked the guy on the door and all he said was "you are wearing England shirts." It's St Georges day for christ sake
