great boozer with a unique choice of punters in the tap room.
watch out for the dart board as you walk in the door, the darts won't get you but the chuckers look like they are from the village people.

I remember visiting the Blue Light from the boarding school up the hill and sitting hidden in the corner, supping our pints. Also the ridiculously easy trivia machine ((when these things first came out) which often provided enough funds for another half each. Then back to school via Kowloon take away, in through a window for A-level prep.

i would like say that i use this pub most evenings and have done so for the past 12 years and have never seen paul sykes in there"thankfully"but there is some great characters. i think its little gem.

We called in this evenin, but it's obviously not the kind of pub you call in for a quickie, i can only guess that the people adding comments so far, are regulars who want to build the numbers up which is all well and good, but truly, the people want to be a bit 'smilier'

Blue Lights a great pub full of crazy characters where the conversation is never boring one word of warning though dont let the landlady's dog max out without telling her otherwise you will see her scarey side

Awesome pub, great staff. The tap room is quite unique but you really have to visit it to find out why ! you wont be dissapointed, Allways something happening every night,superb pub. Did i mention the beer ?

Fully agree Bob's comments plus the Landlord does his own quiz on a Wednesday evening, there's superb free snacks Sunday Lunch, there's a pub Football Team, great outdoor facilities, and as many footie/rugby games get shown on the big TV as you could ever want. A true gem.

Great pub with great people. Good selection of well kept traditional & smooth beers. Raise lots of money for local worthy causes by organising & running events. Home for the Alverthorpe Community Association. Indoor sports team events on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. Roadshow on Thursday. Music quiz on a Sunday. Jack & Eileen will make you feel very welcome.
