Well, i worked many years for Ladbrokes, right next door, so I can tell you: there is a wonderful fruit machine there!I love this pub!Cheers to Europa!

Moved to the area recently and I overheard some chaps in another pub saying how the Europa was full of nutters and that it had all kicked off recently with plod getting involved. So had a go myself and it seemed a pleasant place, decent bunch in there with a good sized garden and handy smokers area (I dont smoke but I hate this erosion into peoples wants and wishes). Beer seemed well kept and I personally prefer it when there are different rooms in a pub, which this place has. Not my nearest but will frequent fairly often I think. Its apparent iffy reputation that proceeds it hasnt been witnessed by me yet, which I hope continues

Good god what's happened apparently some Irish crowd have taken over and Terry is gone, guess benefit off the doubt will have to be given so watch this space. Worried about what will happen to this pretty decent pub could flats be on the horizon?
|
i have not been in for a few years, but still a good welcome(with a smile)the ale was good and the whole pub was buzzing, will come back before i go away again and good luck to terry the landlord and his staff.

This pub, despite it rundown exterior, is well run. On Sunday evenings they have a very modern/mainstream jazz session.
|
On Thursday they had Deuchars IPA, Courage Best, Harveys Best, Pride and Abbot. Many seperate rooms, quiz was going on out the back. Chavs gathered around the pool table.
|
only had two pints in there today 01/06/08,the pride was in very good condition, service good, and a good time was being had by all.terry has got a lot of catching up to do because we all remember dermot and he will allways be a very hard act to follow, but i feel terry is doing his best and is turning the europa around,i will allways have a pint or two when im in molsey, and wish terry all the best.

Another labyrinthine Molesey pub with some good beers on as well as jazz on a Sunday evening. Too easy to get lost in!
|
We now have some nice paintings of wine bottles on the walls of the saloon, helps to give the place that sophisticated wine-bar type feel. I'm suggesting we get some paintings done of broken bottles to hang on the walls in the public so the lads in there won't feel left out.

I can't say I spend much time in here, feel a bit out of place and uncomfortable inside if you don't know the regulars. The garden however is great for kids in the nice weather.

anonymous - 25 Oct 2007 21:44, if you're going to put up a defense for the Europa, it's best to reveal you're username. Otherwise, 'anyone' could have written it !! On another note, real change can only occur when the Landlord gets rid of some truly awful individuals that seem to migrate between the Hotham, Cannnon and Europa.

I dont really know where these last comments came from because all of the regulars will agree what a fantastic job Terry is doing. It still has a way to go but then it had fallen so far from what it once was. Terry is making huge strides to get the place back on track, he spends all hours under the sun there, always ready with a laugh and joke and will not tolerate the nonsense that used to go on. Give him your support and help make the pub great again.

add a stabbing assault recently along with a young ignorant male permanent barman who has no social vocabulary and greets customers like a bad smell. Will never go there again unless it changes ownership and the obnoxious creep behind the bar is removed. Come back Dermot!

On the general scale of things, localgirl1970 is lucky!! She got ice!!!! That represents real progress from the Europa I remember when we lived locally until a couple of years ago. Don't dare ask for lemon or lime, they would probably bite the end off first !! Be thankful, it really has made progress.

I visited this pub when I was staying at my dads back in August.I would never go into this pub again!!!! Ordered a J2O and lemonade and not only did the woman behind the bar not shake the J2O she used her HAND to put ice into my glass disgusting!!!! She should take a health and safety course!!!!

LANDLORD HAS A HABIT OF BOOKING BANDS AND THEN CANCELLING THEM AGAIN, WHY HAVE LIVE MUSIC? PUNTERS LIKE TO KNOW WHERE THEY STAND, AS I AM SURE THE MUSICIANS DO TOO, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL. CAN WE GET THIS TOGETHER PLEASE!!!!!!!

|
went in on saturday lunch, front bar being repainted ,new carpet on the floor, looking so much better, good company, good service, good ale,5 casks on the go,tried l.pride and the sussex both in very good condition, must recomend the barmaid (toni)very much on the ball, must now be the best pub in molesey, after the sad decline of the oak.
|
well done the new landlord, service very good, ale in first class condition, not a chav in sight, will return

Went in for a quick pint on Friday night while I waited for my order at the Indian across the road. Sat in the front bar (small) on my tod and was surrounded by locals who seemed to be regulars. Had a London Pride which was fine. No problems and people just chatted amongst themselves. An old style pub which seemed to be full of regular locals having a few drinks on a Friday night. A big improvement on the last time I was in there and the place was full of chavs.

was in on sunday lunchtime, five real ales on,tried sussex bitter very very good,my wife was drinking london pride, again no complaints (and trust me she will if not of top quality she worked for fullers for 16 years)terry is the new owner, and doing a great job,not so much of the oick factor around, pub busy, but the service was still first rate,(still have to ring the bell)will return, nice to have the europa back, from its time in the wilderness

went in sunday night, not been in for about six months went in the front bar,new landlord (terry) i think, good service, four real ales, all on,tried london pride very good, why are they still selling courage best ? met two old friends chips and martin, who have come down from the royal oak,the cannon and the hotham are taking over the royal oak,(see previous reports on both pubs)will revisit next in the area,by the way as leaving jazz band setting up,good ale, good service, will return

We go to the Europa most Sunday evenings to see the Urban Gin House Jazz Band. This is a VERY old-fashioned pub with totally separate saloon and public bars. Live music is always in the sallon so we have no experience of the 'public'. Friendly crowd with some local 'characters' who drink heavily and swear a lot but we don't object to this. London Pride is always on tap despite being a guest beer so no problem there. Wines are always good, albeit rather expensive; averaging 2.9 pounds for a 175 ml glass. Of all the pubs we frequent we chose it for the Christmas Eve special night out and we were not disappointed; great live music even if it was not jazz.
|
Definitely not recommended - very sad, because it was THE pub in Molesey several years ago
|
Haven't been to the Europa for a while so went the other night. Won't be going again. Poor.

THIS PUB MAY BE GETTING BETTER.THE OIKS THAT USED TO APPEAR IN THOSE FAMOUS GREMLIN MOVIES HAVE HOPEFULLY "GONE AWAY" (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN)ONLY TIME & THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE THE PUB CAN TELL
|
good location. But attracts problems and disputes. police called regularly

I'd say this pub has changed over the last few years. Now it's a popular place with the "younger" drinker. Can be noisy inside although the beer is decent and priced reasonably. Worth a visit just to see what it's like.

Only been in the once but the people we spoke too seemed friendly enough. A bit put off by the "Amsterdam Coffee House" atmosphere in the garden though!.
anonymous - 25 Sep 2005 11:18 |
Used to be OK but the young boisterous crowd have spoiled it a bit, beer no longer for Camra members or anyone who likes their taste buds.

GOOD FRIENDLY BOOZER

I don't go here often, but its always a great pub regardless of whether you're a big group on the lash, or a couple on the smooch.
Dermot made this pub what its is, but it still keeps going.
Maurice H, we miss you!!

Brilliant pub. Dedication to sport and kareoke second to none. The bastard child of the legendary NEW INN (A hex on you Wizard Inns). Extra points for dedicated landlord and nice beer garden. O
