They have a large sign offering 'Dorset ciders' but it turned out they have one bottled local cider. The Red Lion up the road have several on draft.

Not a great pub and very poorly kept beers. Don't know why it's in the GBG. The Palmers Dorset Gold and Ringwood Best were very below par. Service not great either. Music - for a Friday afternoon at 4 was too intrusive as well.

It is located in the centre of the town, not far from the sea. The interior has bare wooden floorboards which I don't like. The bar is just offset from the front door with a large room on the right and a smaller room on the left including a raised area at the back. There were 3 real ales on the bar including 2 from the Ringwood Brewery. Seating is generally comfortable. It does a good food trade. I must be getting old but they dim the lights and put the music on rather loud after 9:30.

Good pub - good beer and food seemed popular. plenty of tellys showing sport if you like that sort of thing.

Called in on NYD Service was prompt food arrived within 15 mins Ringwood Best was in excellent nick. Busy pub that serves all & though a bit 'chain like' was better than thought it was going to be.

This is a good pub, about the only one in Swanage where if you pick your spot you can actually get a sea view.

Pretty well kept Ringwoods Best & "Fortyniner", good service and plenty of space. A good atmosphere too.

No choice of local cider is the only down side, my partner had to make do with Crabbies ginger beer! All in all worth a visit though, lunchtime or evenings.

Well, if they're employing a bouncer of such advanced years, they couldn't be accused of ageism!

Busy pub with bouncer dating from 1793. Attentive staff served me straight away with Palmers Gold. Also sold local Ringwood Ales. Food was good but rather expensive. It was served promptly in 7min 45 sec. Screaming brats by adjacent table.

Whoops, that last review was actually for the White Swan. Don't go in here because they don't allow dogs (there's a joke there somewhere if you can be bothered to make it). Mind you, I've stuck my nose in the door, as has the dog, and it didn't look totally unfamiliar from the White Swan.

Staff are young, fast and efficient.I had a pint of Piddle, which was alright, but nothing special.Quite a large menu, but we only stayed long enough for a quick pint. The decor and the atmosphere could be any urban pub anywhere although a couple of the "locals" were very keen to impress upon some other Londoners that it was all very London on Sea. Flat screen tv showing F1 with the volume up at the same time as they were playing anonymous cocktail bar jazz over the pa system.

Re-furbed and re-opened this summer and they've done a really great job. Place looks superb and a great atmosphere. Also well worth a visit for the food. We have eaten here a few times and been really impressed - easily the best place in Swanage for a decent meal.

Another pub closed and turned into an Oriental eaterie. Called The Golden Lotus or something similar.
