Wheatsheaf, Corstonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Visited the Wheatsheaf last week and like the previous reviewer was impressed. The current landlord is well into a program of refurbishment and the place is much more welcoming than before - in particular the horrid upright chairs arranged in ranks are thankfully gone. The door to the gents toilet has been repositioned in a more discreet area than before and the bar itself has also been repositioned so that the floor area of the main room has increased. The staff seem polite and helpful, the beer (Doom Bar) was good and the steak baguettes we ate for lunch were excellent value. There were various other beers available from barrels at the back of the bar which I may have tried if I'd known they were there, so the main improvement needs to be a sign/blackboard showing what beer they have. But otherwise all good news, and nice to see a pub which might easily have closed for good showing signs of revival.

Visited this pub for the first time on Sunday, and was quite impressed. From outside it looks a bit run-down but new owners (since about Christmas, apparently) are doing the place up and doing it nicely too - though it's still very much a 'work in progress'. Sunday lunch looked very impressive (we ate something less substantial, but good) and beers were good (Doom Bar, Butcombe, Greene King IPA). Best of all, it had a nice atmosphere, obviously lots of regulars - many of them there for lunch, but although the food was good this was no gastro-crowd.

A traditional stone built pub on a country road a couple of miles outside Bath. It�s certainly changed a bit since I was last in here, but to be fair that was a good few years ago.
There are two bars, one either side of the front door, as well as a decent sized beer garden adjacent to the car park. To the left is a smallish room with three or four wooden tables, exposed stone walls and an old fireplace. The bar to the right is somewhat bigger, and has plastered walls in two-tone paint, cream and gastro-pub brown. The floors are all reclaimed boards, and the upright, plain wooden chairs remind me of dining chairs which perhaps give it the impression of a pub more geared up for food. However, I�m not sure this is actually the case; although most of the tables had menus on, they were not laid for food in any other way, and there were a few punters in there who were just having a drink. There was a small LCD TV in one corner, but this was not on when we visited. Another old fireplace was at the back of the room, and a couple of pictures adorned the walls along with a stuffed bird of some sort in a glass case. The tables all had a vase of fresh carnations, and there were even some twigs in a vase. 
The menu looked to be a decent enough �pub grub� affair, with a short selection of dishes such as pie of the day, scampi & chips, etc. and whilst we didn�t eat, and thus can�t comment in too much detail, first impressions were that it was perhaps a bit pricey � most of the dishes were around the �10 mark - even the Ham, Egg & Chips was �10.50. There were also a couple of chalkboards on the wall listing a few specials and the pudding selection.
The solitary beer on offer was Doom Bar, although there were another three pumps on the bar that appeared to have run out � these were Best, Deuchars IPA and Butcombe. The ciders were Blackthorn and Taunton Traditional.

A pub which has come back from the brink but seems to still be struggling. Good choice of beer - ususally Doombar, 6X, Courage Best plus Taunton Cider and I'm told food is pretty good, if expensive. Main problem is the way it was refurbished a few years ago - lots of stripped pine furniture and varnished floorboards, consequently chairs none too comfortable and with even a few people inside there tends to be a lot of irritating clatter and noise. Current landlord seems friendly enough and staff seem to be efficient, but there are pubs in every direction which are probably better set up for this sort of trade and have the space to develop. Gents toilets could do with being brought into the 21st century as well!

A lovely country pub which offers fabulous food well above the standard you would expect from a pub. Everyone there are very friendly and welcoming.

I worked here for three weeks, was an awful place to work. The landlord would get slowly more and more pissed and I would be alone clearing up with an old drunk pervy man. When I called to say my boyfriend had menigitus and could not come in to work they told me to stuff it. Food was often left out and re-used!

Not sure what to say, would never go again, my food was under cooked!
Sent it back and it come back the same! sent it back again and I was told to F*** Off and not to come back!
