Pub with geezers and geezers' birds. Average age around 45-50. Playing good 60s / 70s music like the Who, but a bit loud. Decent pint of Youngs. Not bad

This pub is good but it could be a lot better. The beer is always consistent and the service is efficient. If you're going there for live music, this can be hit and miss, one or two of the bands they have are great but others are average.

3.55 for an OK pint of Wadworth 6X- bit steep, soon it'll be 4.00 London prices.
|
5.95 for an 'Angus Steak Beefburger', the salad and chips were tasty but the burger wasn't far off a certain well known frozen variety although it was cooked properly.

Has anyone eaten here?

Service is nearly always prompt. The beer (real ale) is OK but prices a little bit on the high side. Always busy at weekend and mostly friendly and I've never heard of any trouble taking place.

The new folks running this place have started well, a definite improvement on previous visits. The Sleighbell wasn't to my taste (I'm still trying to find an Everards beer that I like) but the ever reliable Bombadier was well kept. The place got slightly mobbed out by Gooners watching AFC on the box but, all in all, a nice friendly, atmosphere. Will be back.

Large spacious bar on entering and four ales on. Tried the Wadworth's Farmers Glory which was a good pint. They have a kind of garden shed-cum-conservatory where the pool table lives and then an excellent covered smoking area with telly and dartboard beyond that followed by a large-ish garden. Definitely a top rating for smokers and the ale was pretty decent as well. Best beer in this part of town (yep - even though the Carpenters is over the road).

Quite a large single-bar pub, with a big covered area out back for the smokers plus a substantial (if sparsely equiped) beer garden and a couple of benches at the front. The large Sky Sports banners out front didn't bode too well for real ale, but I was pleased to find four handpumps offering a selection of Directors, Clark's Westgate Gold (3.25) and a couple of other guest beers. And yes, there are loads of screens (both large and small) showing several channels of non-stop sport.

Great pub...shame about the knob who presents the music quiz on a Thursday..
|
Popular drinkers pub with plenty of room and TVs showing Sky Sports. Three ales including Directors, Spitfire and (I think) Adnams. Bus stops right outside for convenience.
|
Really friendly pub, has a great selection of lagers and beers, great live music, bloody difficult music quiz on a thursday!!
|
Quite a good atmosphere. Starting selling more Real Ale, from Cornwall and Oxford. Staff efficent if not particularly friendly.
|
Staff seem friendly enough - some of the customers are a bit scary.
Not bad I suppose.

Deceptive boozer this. Looks quite quiet from the outside but when you cross the threshold there's a loud jukebox (playng shite), a clutch of fruitys and the big screen unfurling for the first of however many Premiership games Sky can shoehorn in to one afternoon. The tranquility is also somewhat marred by quite the vilest carpet I've ever seen. Not bad in any way but probably to be avoided when sport's on if that's not your cup of tea.

Staff try hard, needs a bit more atmosphere, clientelle seem to come here more for the drink than the live music, is that such a bad thing?
