Went last night. Only locals in there but still a cozy pub. Shame no log fire on. It was still cold out.and beer garden benches a bit tatty now

We came over this way as we fancied a pub lunch out in the country. On entering the locals looked up and went silent not unlike the pub with the same name in a nearby High Street! The barman then appeared and they went back to their whatevers. We ordered our drinks and food from a reasonably varied menu, paid and went into the garden. My pint was OK but no more. Why is it that these days most pubs have a couple of real ales plus a guest or two they are often less well kept than they were a few years ago. So can’t really recommend.

As to the food – my chips were good and my partner’s chips were good as well. As for the rest of the meal it reminded me of the fayre supplied to the pub trade by the company with a name that reminds me of car parts supplier.

We might come back as part of a group on a lazy Sunday afternoon but otherwise not worth the detour!

Started usingh this pub again recently as my usual local appears to be taking a turn for the worse.

It's been a few years since my last vist, but the landlord remembered and welcomed me, the beers are very good, the service excellent and the atmosphere cosy (well, at this time of year!)

Heartily recommended.

Always a nice pub to visit the Cross Keys has some excellent ales and food. We went for lunch a month or so back and were impressed and the same a week ago. They even had Thwaites Wainright on draft!

Kind of out of the way place that people drive to rather than walk to. It was okay, a bit of a hooray kind of crowd there on this visit. The choice of ales was
the usual GK and Adnams suspects on draught plus one out of the ordinary - Rooster's Leghorn, which I went for.... was okay but drinkable as opposed to good. Somewhere to drop by if you're in the vicinity bt not somewher I'd make an especial effort to get to.

Lots of choice of real beers, well kept. Just wish they would remember to maintain stock, not keep running out.

Food is good, fairly basic and good value, especially for the area. 6.50 for Sunday Roast is the lowest cost for miles.

Cross Keys is a bit a jewel is an otherwise expensive and fairly offhand local pub environment.

I agree with Hopsucker - great pub, excellent landlord. First started using this place 32 years ago and I still like it!

Two people have rated this place at 5.5/10 without comment. Must be teetotallers or cocktail girlies (male or female).
This is an attractive, well run country pub with a good selection of beers kept in excellent condition.
