Bizarre comment from lucywillow - it was nothing like her description. This is a charming small traditional two bar pub catering for a local clientele. The barman was pleasant, and the dozen or so customers seemed friendly enough. The downside is that only two real ales were available (GK IPA and Abbott), but both were well-kept and nicely chilled. The food prices looked fairly standard for the area - £7.50 for a Sunday roast. My mate and I agreed that we wouldn't mind if this was our local. Worth a visit.

Cosy traditional interior but no beer - unless you count GK Abbot & IPA in tired condition. (IPA?? Trade Descriptions Act!!)

Great pub, good food, good beer, good service. Ticked all the boxes. Worth a visit.

Attractive looking pub, quite small inside with two distinct areas. Its difficult to judge a pub in the midst of the Sunday lunch rush but it seemed to be accommodating both the over 40s diners and the under 30s drinkers fairly well. GK IPA and Abott that was served a bit colder than perhaps it should have been.

Was in here about a week ago, fantastic to have been greeted by such a smiling happy-go-lucky barman or was he the landlord that made me feel great to be spending my hard earned in the pub, will be going back for more chat and friendly banter - or might stay at home and buy my beer down tescos, the choice is mine.

Best pub in the village by far. Nice friendly atmosphere i almost felt as though i was a regular. The people make this pub and were always up for a laugh playing the quiz machine. The landlady was pleasent to me and my partner, however if you were a regular and seemed to be having to much fun she would soon turn into what can only be decribed as a deranged Rhino coming head on with a tirade of verbal abuse. Dont know why they put up with it??? Will make my up most effort to revisit this pub as the food that came out looked and smelled lovely. Friend has eaten here before and said food is better than most restuarants in st albans and for value for money aswell. Beer was good and wife said wine was good so take her word for it. Great garden area if only the sun was out, but it is england so you cannot blame the pub for that.

When in Park Street, head for the Overdraught. The beers are well kept, albeit bland (GKIPA, Abbots and John Smiths), but the food menu is astonishing: yesterday evening I counted eight choices, plus a Special of duck breast, cointreau, fresh vegetables and potatoes. Mmm... I felt like eating the lot! Seriously, this is easily the best-run pub in the area.

Been here a couple of occasions. Seems to cater for a younger crowd than other local pubs i.e. below 50 years. White haired Barman (maybe owner?) seems a bit miserable but beer and crowd ok.

Easily the best atmosphere, friendliest welcome and most diligent barstaff in Park Street. The choice of ales is boring (Abbots and Greene King IPA) but if the manager(s) extended the range this place could be a winner. (The competition is laughable.)

Lovely pub nicest in village,. Was no a fan when the old landlady was there but with new landlord the place is much cleaner and there's a much friendlier atmosphere. Had lunch lovely homemade soup and cottage pie. would recommend especially to those who have not been there for a while.
