According to staff at another pub nearby, the building owner put the rent up to unaffordable levels

I think this bar must have swapped managers recently because we went in a few months ago for a party, and then came in again last week for another friends birthday and the difference was incredibl. the bar now has a lovely atmosphere to it and the music is good but you can still here each other talk The bar staff were also really friendly, and the cocktails were brilliant for �4 a go! definitely the best value cocktail i've had for a while!

We popped in on a quiet Tuesday night, with less than 10 customers in the whole place. It still took 10 minutes for the bar staff to deign to ask us what we wanted - and when we pointed to one of the special cocktails on offer, he had to phone someone to ask how to make it. At which point we left.
I don't ask much from a pub, but I do ask that the staff are relatively interested in serving you, and offering what they claim to offer.

everytime i have been to this bar i have always had a really good night with my friends. the music is different each night and the drinks look and taste really nice. and im so happy they had a referb now, its all smart and they have awesome mirrors in the girls toilets!

Tends to get very packed but great happy hour on a Friday night (I think it was �2 a pint the last time I was there). Food not bad either.

The fact you would rate a bar on how good looking the staff are goes to show you are shallow and materialistic. I think some of you, have seen to many movies and need to grow up.
I have to agree with a couple of the people above. The place is very pretentious.

great bar with a feel good factor. current owners have really changed this place around to make it a cool bar to be in. great happy hour prices �2 for beers. good customer service and a wicked downstairs bar. most importanty you are served with a smile.
cant wait for friday night!!!!

not a bad place but you can end up getting stuck behind 5 giggling airhead media blondes trying to decide what cocktail they want

Is this place meant to be a retro early 90s bar? If so, it does a cracking job of pretending to be in a timewarp. With the queues of everyone clamouring for happy hour cocktails you'll be lucky to get a drink within this decade anyway.

I can't believe anyone would say anything bad about this place! The food is good and reasonably priced, as are the drinks,(they do great cocktails).The atmosphere is relaxed and trendy, without being stuffy. It's great for a quiet drink in the week and fills up on weekends due to it's great party atmosphere.Staff are polite,friendly and actually care about their staff.The service is prompt and the bar regularly cleaned.One of my favourite places.

I Dj'd in here about 6 months ago and was appalled at the sound system so when a mate booked it for his birthday and asked me to play i tried to convince him otherwise but he wouldn't have it.....
Soundsystem is still appalling. Bar-staff seemed pretty clueless as to how to sort it out too.
Not a bad 'meeting-up' place but if you're up for a night out, avoid, and if you're a dj then steer well clear 'cos it's a proper wind-up.

Fab Fab Fab, you can hire the top bit for free fits about 50 or so people, they also have a under ground bar which is really cool for private parties. I think that has room hire. Great staff and drinks. Go go go

If you don't fancy a pub but want a bar - where you can sit and have table service...yep..this is the one. Food not great but hey have you tried pub food in the evening in w1? Clientele young and flirty, a few suits but they stand out like lapping tw@ts. Mostly guaranteed outside seating - in the west end come on! I gather most of the staff are Aussies, which is cool. A find. Cocktails can be cheap. A few students here...whats wrong with that mister?

Maybe something in the potions staff contract that they have to log on here and say how wonderful it is.
Been there, wasnt impressed. Beer was off, didnt try the cocktails. Few students, couple of suits. Guess it might be called a chick hangout kinda place (all mingers I must add). Im generous and gave it 3/10 for being only bar with a TV that was near empty during an England footie match.

Awsome huge servings of food, cheap drinks and fantastic cocktails, this place has got it right. The staff at Potion actually give a toss about their customers, we are regulars now and got a VIP card with cheaper drinks after we got to know the guys. The only negative is the basment can sometimes get hot..... But sweaty can be good. Potion rates as our best bar find this year... Good DJ facilities as well (and free)

I went to Potion with a mate to watch a football game, and i must say i was pleasantly suprised. It was tucked just off of Tottenham Court Road and in a nice little location. It wasnt very busy but we had a great time. The food was lovely, the drinks were cheap including cocktails, (you must try the Dangerous Dhillans) and the football was on a big plasma screen. What more could we ask for? Well after we were on the wrong side of an �85 bar tab we stumbled out only to find Spearmint Rhinos across the road. Heaven!

good little bar this. upstairs can be a bit 'afterwork' but downstairs is great. good tunes (on a friday anyway) and plenty of space to kick back. a good choice to start a night if you're heading on somewhere else but also good for the entire night. happy hour is worth getting there for. good location too.

Can't fault this place - cheap drinks every night and great DJs at the w/e. I went a few weeks ago on a Friday and it was packed - students, tourists, office folk etc. all going mad in the club area downstairs. Bottled beers are �1.30 in happy hour (6-8 every night) - not many other bars you can get that! My mate also hired it out (for free!) and had a great night. The food's decent as well. I will be back soon...

Potion is a great little bar tucked away just off Tottenham Court Road. On Friday's they have a DJ who plays a great mix - soul, funk etc. - plenty of classic tunes. There's a dancefloor and seating area downstairs and pints are only �1.80 in happy hour! What more could you ask for? A great place to spend a Friday night with your mates and apparently it's also available for private hire. Cool. Definitely recommended.

Potion has such great looking staff and amazing customer customer service. Monday nights are may favourite with only �1 cruisers and 99p pints.
