Third pub in Tewkesbury and at last a decent pint... Wye Valley Butty Bach.
Low ceilings, olde worlde, goes back a long way - so tardis like interior.
Busy with a broad cross section of age groups.
Decent.

Atmospheric old world pub with low beams and friendly staff. Five real ales on and a real cider which all appeared to be well kept. We also stayed for dinner and had two very tasty cottage pies. Hard not to like this place. Didn't get to meet the ghost though...

Friendly place with a resident ghost, but dont worry because the beer is not headless and they do serve spirits.
Staff were friendly and the food was first class. Had 5 ales on offer.

Pleasing Fourteenth-century town-centre pub with a public bar at the front and rear restaurant. Five real ales are on offer, including St Austell Tribute, Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach, and we found them all kept in first class condition. Well-priced contemporary food is also served lunchtimes and evenings. Friendly staff who are more than happy to tell you about the resident ghosts!

Decent town centre pub. Bar and restaurant. Lots of timber etc and apparently ghosts!
Upto four beers. Interesting menu. Staff helpful.

Very characterful building - one of the best in Tewkesbury. Beer is a very average selection including doom bar, st austell tribute and butty bach. They do have old rosie cider in a box on the bar. The food is below average and expensive. I had gammon which was very thin. my daughter had thai fish cake which was still frozen in the middle - the pub offered no apology. We were fairly regular at Nottingham Arms but will now go elsewhere.

Good pint of Butcombe

Had a quick one here. Unlike previous commenters, I like to drink local beer when I'm out somewhere, so the beers from Sharps and St Austell weren't really what I wanted to see (particularly since they're everywhere in London these days). Not particularly friendly either. So a bit disappointing.

Nice 'local' pub with Hobgoblin on tap. Probably wouldn't stay all night but worth a couple of hours

Called in the other day for the first time in a long time. Nothing much changed usual stares like I had two heads. 3 real ales on offer nothing new there. Rather bad stale smell not sure if it was the pub or the customers! TV on in the corner blaring out some pop music obviously instead of a decent background music system. Oh well it changes hands shortly maybe the cleanliness will improve and it will not be so unfriendly.

Good beer and good looking food, Sunday lunches and Thai specials on Monday nights. Much better.

Popped in for lunch twice this week, nothing fancy, just good honest pub grub at excellent prices. The local "Bob" is not to my taste (I do like to try the local ale when visiting different areas) but they had Sharpe's "Doom Bar" (whoopee - best beer in the world) and "Otter" on. They also occasionally have St Austell's "Tribute" (also best beer in the world). I also note from another post that they also sell "Bays" and "Dartmoor", so the Devon and Cornwall breweries are well represented here. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the ale well kept. Will be calling again next time I'm in Tewkesbury.

Best pub I tried in this town to be honest, friendly, good ale at fair prices and excluding lounge area felt like a local.
|
Popped in back in July,Wickwar BOB,Bays Gold & Dartmoor Best were on offer of which I opted for a reasonable pint of BOB @ 2.85pint. More of a restaurant than a pub though which i think lets it down although it seemed quite popular, 6/10

'The Not' as it is known locally is by far the best real ale pub in the town. It always has a few very good and very well kept ales on and is generally pretty lively. The Thai night on Mondays is a real triumph and I recommend trying it. Friendly welcome, good atmosphere and excellent beer ! Gotta love that!

The bar had plenty of people in it on a Saturday night all enjoying the good real ale, Sunday night they shut early :-( so we didn't get to enjoy them again.
|
Used to be rather unwelcoming if you werent a local you sat in the funereal lounge at the back, but has improved a lot over last year or two and is more welcoming. Has a vibrant community with lots of events, Thai food nights, quizzes and live music. Regular beer is Wickwar BOB, plus two guests.

Traditional real ale pub with a good range of well kept beers. Worth a visit.
|
Good beer and a pretty good atmosphere. Good mix of locals and tourists, I was not made to feel particulary welcome but wasn't glared at either. Went in a couple of times during my time here.
|
Why is this pub rated so low? I was in there again on a trip down from Birmingham. The beer is brilliant and the atmosphere is good. It should be much more highly rated!
|
Why is this pub rated 4.8/10? Its a really nice pub. Very friendly atmosphere. Beautiful old building. My wife and I went in for a lunchtime sandwich, but it was Thai Monday so we had a Thai meal each instead and it was lovely.
I had a pint of the guest ale, Copper Dragon 1816 which was very well kept, as was a local beer called 'Bob' which I just had to try.
Both of us liked the Nottingham a lot. I would give it 8/10.

old English timber beamed. Interesting battle of tewkesbury theme. lots of pictures & artifacts. Cask ales : greene king abbot & IPA, Tetley bitter.

A pub that appears to have loads of history, unfortunately MILD is also history so walked straight out.
|
