A cracking pub set in the depths of Devon full of charm. With a huge garden to the rear and great service from the bar, we would definitely visit again.

A good traditional village pub in 16th.century building. Great real ales and basic, but very tasty food, all freshly prepared using local produce. Sunday Lunch is a particular treat. Locals seemed friendly. Open log fires, flagstone floors and plenty of beams. In all, a nice place to visit in a popular village.

Fantastic, old, quirky pub. Excellent local beer, pub food and hospitality from the owners. Lovely atmosphere watching the rugby, with very friendly locals too. Breakfast amazing and rooms great. The showers are electric, so don't expect power showers, but we had hot water in our 4 rooms. If this is all others have had to complain about it, then please don't discount it. There's more to it. It's a lovely old village pub, not a square box, Harvester type. We recommend it and hope to go back - if we're welcome!

Don't stay here if you want any hot water in your rooms. Our wedding party filled the B&B rooms and no one had any hot water. We were told that 2 early morning walkers must have used it all!! I spoke to the 'walkers' and they said they had no hot water either....not good enough really. We expected some reduction in the price of the room and were told 'we still have our overheads'. Won't be stopping there for our next wedding in the area.

No hot water in at least 4 of the bedrooms. An apology but still charged us the full amount of 70. Not good enough. Won't be staying over night again but food was good

CAMRA members - we stayed for 2 nights last year. We were made very welcome by both the staff and locals. Had lovely meals in the bar and enjoyed good converation with local residents. The beer was excellent with the cellar man taking great pride in showing us round. As I read various reports on this site, I begin to think that people get the service and reception they deserve.

A locals' stronghold with overpriced B&B accomodation. You get the impression you are not welcome from the customers and the landlord. This pub has changed hands numerous times over the past 20 or so years, primerily because of commercial pressures. Now that Shebbear has expanded like so many other villages there are enough people living near by to sustain it. Unfortunatly they have brought there city attitudes with them. Beer is fine.

Defintely a locals pub. They crowd the bar and are very reluctant to let you get near it. Beer is Ok and wine too. However the restaurant food leaves a lot to be desired.
