This pub must have been having an off day when we visited.
The place is attractive both inside and out and my pint of Otter ale was very good. The problem was there was little atmosphere in here and only one other person turned up the entire time we were in the on a Saturday lunchtime too.
I saw easy was of ordering any kind of food whatsoever and we were hungry at the time.
4/10 Expected more from this place.

Friendly, traditional pub with a good feel and a nice pint of Otter (no Skinners) when we visited.Food looked good too - shame it closed at 3 on a Sunday though as we'd have happily drunk more. I echo the previous comments in that it's a shame they don't stock Forge beer - which we did sample in the Kings Arms however sadly that place was a bit of a shocker.

Generally leans more toward being a restaurant than a pub but on the plus side, they never allow all of the tables to be prebooked. The food is good and worth the few extra quid that they charge. The beer is OK too – Otter Ale and Skinners (and the ever present Doom Bar of course). Overall worth a visit, even if it’s just for a drink. It’s a popular place too, not surprising considering the alternatives in Hartland! Plenty of tourists (eating) and a few locals round the bar. Just a shame they don’t stock any Forge beers - the brewery is 100 yards away!

Yes, nice memories of last time we were out this way. Our meal was tasty and the beer was good.

Nice friendly pub in a quiet village. Had Yellow Hammer and Doom Bar Bitter on when I visited and both were kept well. Newspapers available useful if you fancy a quiet pint on your own. Did not try the food but it was well presented and the locals recommended it but it is pricey. Worth a visit if you are staying nearby.

on a recent holiday in the area .... visitors book did not just recommend going to this pub but told us to go! fantastic atmosphere and great food .... Ican see why! highly recommended

recently re-opened .... good to see a pub returned to a typical village centre destination. Food is the focus as well as well kept real ales and a great selection of quality products. As for the food it encompasses pub staples as well as a dynamic changing menu. The food is of a very high standard and uses fresh local produce .... good to see the integrity of this operation. Well worth several visits!
