Old White Bear, Crosshillsback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Maybe I visited on a good day but my rating would be simply a real gem of a pub. Excellent beer brewed on the premises. Good food although the specials had all been taken by the time we arrived (which was pretty early - about 18:00). Surprisingly high number of drinkers in the bar for such an early hour on a Saturday - must be a thirsty lot in Crosshills. Well worth a visit

Been in a couple of times. Always a friendly atmosphere and had a couple of real ales on that were fine.

I've called into the White Bear several times in the past few months and I like it - the pub and the people who go in it seem very genuine. An interesting old building and inside open fires, an unpretentious atmosphere and what seems a good mix of friendly but discerning local clientele. Decent real ales from local Naylors brewery. Never eaten there.

Seems that pitbull is still prepared to frequent a pub that's dirty, short of staff and expensive! Obviously a very discerning customer. I believe the pub has a really friendly atmosphere, polite and friendly staff, good, reasonably priced food, prepared by two of the best pub chefs in the area. Admittedly there is room for improvement, but I believe the owners and management are always open to constuctive criticism. Pubs are closing at an alarming rate and if you don't use it you lose it! The "laugher" has all the quality traditional pub goers look for, old world charm, good ale at competitive prices (bearing in mind they have to buy their ale through Enterprise Inns, an organisation that has done its best to hasten the demise of English pubs) friendly and interesting customers and yes a bit of dust! But I believe we would all regret its loss, so pitbull wake up, smell the coffee and go drink somewhere else!

Great pub. I hear they have won pub of the year for 2009 for their real ales. Also best Carvery I've ever had - served every Sunday. Good atmosphere and well worth a visit.

quiz night thursdays, good, but are spoiled by people saving seats for up to 1 hour, while others have to stand around, they should be told its first come first serve.

Difficult to find anything to fault at the "laugher" (as it seems to be known locally).
Good real ales, all from Naylors, at low prices. Friendly atmosphere and staff in traditional, comfortable surroundings (not dingy). Darts and 'ring the bull' available in the tap room. Good home made food at great prices.
Erm..... trying to think of a way to improve the place.... erm..... introduce a range of 150 Belgian bottled trappist ales? erm..... give away free money at the bar?

Scafell - I can guess why you prefer this place ot Cowling's "Bay Horse". It's like comparing a jewel to a cockroach..
OWB remains a brilliant place. Despite the departure of the Naylors, (who have now set up their brewery in Skipton, and for whose beers the pub remains the brewerey tap for three years), the beer is still superbly produced at daft prices - 1.75 for a pint of really excellent bitter or dark mild. The food is very very good, varied, plentiful and not over priced. The service is usually quick and friendly. It's a warm and comfy place which is even better now the smokers have gone. And they're doing something out back - enlarging either the car park or the "garden". In fact problems with the small car park are my only complaint. Hence 9/10 - and keep it up, lads.

The Old White Bear in Crosshills is one of the best pubs in Britain. Only go once a week for early doors on Friday for a good chat, drink and a wind down with the mates,(male and female.) Reasons why it is so good; no music which is great for the friday evening wind down straight from work. There is sometimes music but it does not blare out. Superb comfy bar area,(please never change this if you the owner is reading this. We've told him anyway), great beer; used to be brewed on the premises but demand was such that it is brewed in Keighley I think.Friendly staff who are not thick, great food at a reasonable price. The pastry on the steak and ale pie cannot be beaten. A superb warm, comfy, friendly pub; a rarity. It must be good because we go there from Middleton which is 3 miles away eventhough there is a pub much nearer in Cowling.

not the best pub i have ever been to found it a little dingy inside could do with a paint job and some of the staff were not very helpful at all
