The plough changed owners in 2008 and is now called Company Jones...and gosh has it changed from the "Old Plough" !!!! Gone is the dark, sombre pub we all knew, gone are the larger louts and shoe melting carpets!
I'm a 35 year old mother of two, (one at college and a 5 month old), and it is the only place in Walton on Thames that appears to accommodate all age groups brilliantly! My daughter recently had a meal with friends there to celebrate her birthday....and they had a great time.
It is an amazing place to relax and meet up with friends, offering a really fantastic, comfy and incredibly spacious lounge area with open fire places in one half and a gorgeous restaurant in the other. You can be served meals in the lounge area which makes it excellent for mums with young children. They also provide a high chair/s, proper baby changing facilities and a collection of books...so you can relax whilst the children are comfortable and entertained.
The food, coffees etc are terrific value! The feel of the place is very meddeteranean, even down to the really warm reception that you receive from all staff....they go that extra mile that is so lacking from many of the other places locally..
so if you want to relive the ambiance of that last great holiday abroad...this is deffinately the place for you!
It can also be used for private functions, weddings, anniversaries, reunions etc..which they manage in the most professional way.

Pub has opened again but its awful.
Gone from a good friendly boozer into a terrible Gastropub. Cost of Best was 3.40 a pint!

They say they have got rid of the low life, but this is not true

Since they took over the new owners have got rid of the type of customer that stopped most people going in there, its now over 21's as well.
The real ales are excellent, and very cheap on a monday, and if theres anything you'd like to request as one of the two guest ales the guyts behind the bar will try to get a barrel in.
they now have a big screen for most sports but no football is being shown so its perfect for watching the rugby on a saturday.
Must also add the foods good as well though only served 12 - 3 everyday, come on lads go a bit later at the weekend,
my only real moan is theres no mirror in the mens toilet

Bit tight on drinking up time. Nice enough though

yeah, much much better. wouldn't have touched it last year.

Under new management since Dec04, things really seem to be improving now, they are trying to attract a slightly older customer, no more DJ nights or sky sports etc. They intend to revert to calling it The Plough, nice log fire, fresh coat of paint and much cleaner inside and also home-cooked food coming soon, I was pleasantly surprised. Well worth another look

This pub seems to change hands every week. It never seems to imporove it. Last time I went in there the bar was full of loud mouth racists, the land lord seemed to be joning in, the beer was awful. It has since changed hands, am holding off before checking it out again though.
