Four real ales on including Adnams bitter and Broadside both @ 350p a pint.

Quiet when I went in around 5pm week-day with a few builders in with their vans outside.

Vintage Inns manages the pub and keeps it clean but I noticed empty glass/bottle s in the garden left from lunchtime on the tables.

Not bad for a chain pub. The staff are courteous enough and the extensive menu changes regularly, in line with a corporate policy no doubt.

Usual variety of commonly available draught beers.

Plenty of varied seating, a bit of wooden-beamed character and a reasonable outdoor area make this a painless place to have a few jars and perhaps an adequate, if unmemorable, meal.

We recently had a meal at this pub on a Friday afternoon. The food was poor ie. overcooked, dried up, limp salad. I complained to Vintage inns and they did not even bother to reply. Won't be going there again.

More a restaurant than pub serving good food and 3 ales including adnams broadside. Can be a bit slow with the food but always admired them for taking the initiative and banning the filthy smokers ages before the ban came in.

Re - the comments of our anonymous member. Yes, the pub was severely damaged by fire about five years ago. When I got there for my lunchtime pint and saw the fire engines outside, it only took me ten minutes to realise that I would not be drinking there that day!! The roof is new, but the walls etc. are older than me.

What? The "original" pub burnt to the ground at least five years ago!

The original pub is thought to be 400 years old, but has been extended twice in the past twenty five years. It is run by the Vintage Inns group and serves good pub grub at reasonable prices.
