please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

They pub is a lovely place nicely tucked up a side lane in the pretty village of Georgeham.

There were 4 or 5 decent ales on tap which was good to see however there were also a few negatives about this place.

First of all the prices. What a joke £3.90 for a pint of ale and £4.80 for a pint of Stella!
Now I know that this is a tourist area but there was no real reason for such rip off prices, it's not like it was on the beach or had a great view or anything so I was shocked.

Also the bar staff were over pushy on food and that was the final straw for me we had two and then left.

Having said all that though the time we spent in here was pleasant though and the ales were good.

6/10

Went for an evening meal with family including young child and was warmly welcomed and shown to table. We had 3 adult meals and 1 child meal and food was fantastic. I had sharps doombar to drink and was very good, would definitely go back to this pub!

Visited this pub twice in the past 18 months when on holiday in the area. First time it was in September and fairly quiet, last week was a busy Saturday night. Both times we've been made very welcome by the staff. Beer is kept well - on Sat night I had Betty Stogs, Tribute and Doombar; all top quality. We also ate both times and the portions are huge at sensible prices for pub/restaurants (9.50 fish & chips). Chilli squid as a starter was really good too.

Visited Saturday lunchtime to find the pub was not too crowded. Real ales included Betty Stogs (very good), Tribute and Timothy Taylor which we consumed outside at the new patio tables. Did not eat as still full from The Thatch breakfast, however other people's meals looked appetising. The only downside was one of our party, who arrived early, being told he had to move from his chosen bar stool because the landlord's Dad would be arriving soon and it was his seat.... (there's someone sitting there, mate!). Suffice to say this did not spoil the visit, locals will have their foibles.

Sadly I visited this pub a few years back when I was in the village searching for ancestors. The pub was packed out and obviously very popular, however a local person who had no ancestral claim to the area chose his time to verbally abuse me because I came from NW England. Pub went quiet but no one especially licensee or staff stepped in to halt this locals diatribe. This incident proved to me the pub was sadly not as welcoming as I was led to believe. I didnt stay to purchase lunch for my family.

Since my previous comment in August I have returned to have lunch on three occasions and it improves each time. On my most recent visit there were four real ales on sale - Abbot, Doom Bar, Timothy Taylor and Tribute. The London Pride was off - presumably a change of barrels. On a cold day the pub was comfortably warm without being hot. Free newspapers were available to read. The food was absolutely excellent - all in my party left clean plates. The steak and (Doom Bar) ale pie was packed with large and very tender chunks of beef. The gammon was the thickest I have ever seen - must have been nearly half an inch, and was tender. A vegetarian meal could not be faulted. A few weeks ago we had locally caught rabbit which was also brilliant. The portions are always a good size. On a cold October day the pub was fairly busy with plenty of meals coming out from the kitchen. If they stick to their current standards we will return again and again.

Have been coming to the Rock Inn every summer for many years, Jane has now gone after many years, the pool table and juke box which we spent many a happy evening playing have gone, its now all been painted white all the old pictures and nick naks have gone, no local beers only tribute, abbotts etc, the food was Ok but had to wait ages, all in all, very disappointed, had a better time at the Lower House down the road, which now seems to be where all the locals go now

This lovely village pub has just had a welcome change of management, and is in the middle of a few changes. The pool table has gone, and the suntrap front garden has been extended to take more tables. Had some very nice Abbott ale and some good food a few days ago.
Early days yet, but I think it will soon move on from pretty good to excellent.

Sadly on my visit the beer was very poor. Fuller's London Pride and Greene King Abbot were available.Anyone who thinks FIVE real ales available will be very deluded ! The King's Arms opposite has changed it's name to the Lower House and is just plain awful.

I will be going there next week , at least five real ales from micro breweries, my wife is keen on this pub as it is strong on the virtues of cleanliness and good manners. The King,s Arms opposite is better than average.

Well nice pub which serves 5 real ales and great food. They serve 16 inch filled baguettes which are excellent value for money. Situated in this pretty North Devon village makes this place even more ideal. Family friendly as well.

Great pub. Found this on a suunny day when cycling in Devon. Stopped for the roast lunch (turkey), which was amazing. Food was very good and plentiful. Loved the parsnips.
