Visited for a quick pint on a busy Friday night and found it to be a great little, atmospheric place with none of the 'untidiness' referred to in previous reviews, The beer on offer was still Bass and Brains SA, although they also had Yankee Rooster, which being a Yorkshire ale, I had to have and found to be in good condition. As we stayed inside, I cannot comment if they still use under size plastic glasses, but hopefully they have stopped this by now ! Good pub with a reasonable choice of beer in a dark old fashioned setting, give it a try.

Moved back to the area after a year away but this pub is still dirty and still using undersized plastic "pints"

I totally disagree with the comments of smellybelly. I used it several times when I was on holiday in Conwy and it was not dirty and the staff were very courteous. I didn't see any dogs. It has a good location on the side of the estuary but the bar is small with limited seating. They had 2 real ales on, Brains SA and Bass.

Dirty pub, unruly dogs, off hand staff, rude landlord and undersized plastic glasses for outside unless you are a local. AVOID
|
Brains SA and Bass available. The SA was OK. Sat indoors as plastic glasses were required for outside.
|
Watch out for the under sizes plastic glasses, if you order a pint you only get 50cl well under the pint you pay for

went in 2 week ago only for the 2nd time in the last 26 years.it was quite warm so was able to sit outside and being in the harbour was great and unlike my last time was quite busy being late afternoon. this time was drinking draught bass which was a good pint and only 2-75 a pint. after a hour went back in the pub and only notice how dark it was in the pub. quite small inside. good pub and would go again if in conw,

Small harbourside pub with one room that isn't without character- dark wood panelling and maritime themed, with various artefacts to add to this. Was surprised, givien the name, to see an Everton pint glass behind the bar! Seems to be a locals' pub despite being in a prime spot for tourists. Bass and Brains SA avaialble on handpump. Bass was OK if nothing outstanding. The real draw here is the outside seating with the views of the castle and harbour, as the pub and beer are pleasant enough but a bit sticky and unremarkable. Worth a pop.

Liked the interior very much - dark and cosy. Only draught Bass available, but well kept and staff were friendly.
|
was in for the first time in 25 years in january does not to appear to have change much in all that time had brains sa which was ok but the pub like was quiet

Used to work there. God only knows why.Except to say I had to work somewhere and was brought up and in and around the area.Holds some fond memories for me though.

Tiny atmospheric pub with stone walls and fireplace. Used to the be the waiting room for the Liverpool ferry! Ask for a plastic cup and take your pint out to the quay on summer evenings.
