Tried it since the makeover. It now has zero atmosphere, and from what I've seen on numerous occasions I've passed it since, zero customers

Now called The Two Rivers and Wow what a difference a make over has!! All new sofa's and furniture no trace of the old Phoenix left - great place for lunch or Dinner
|
Its a pub for people who like a specific type of pub. Not great on the beer front but fantastic if you want to see a local youth rolling around the floor with a member of her Majesty's constabulary. A bit scruffy but its one of those pubs that you either like or not. I am in the or not category.

Hello every one!!! there is a family and friendly BBQ going down on 8th of march sunday delicious food, good drinks, friendly atmosphere, everyboody welcome i will be there..... but there again i'll be cooking! COOKING STARTS AT: 12.00 LUNCHTIME
|
Not a nice pub. Popped in for a pint and there were youths fighting and police were wading in too!
Shame as it looks so nice,.
|
Popped in earlier in the week, Lager & Cider flat as a gymnasts chest

Does anyone in Staines remember when Lesley tried to influence the direction of The Phoenix? (1999 - 2002)
|
A place where they have DJ nights, popular with the young crowd. Fairly lively atmosphere. Some ales here too, the likes of Abbot, IPA and Old Speckled Hen.
|
Paul's gone, new manager coming. What will happen? Loch Fyne?
|
who destroyed the pubs in staines theyre just not the way i remember them

Called in on Saturday night; very quiet at 9pm despite band due on some time in the evening. Landlord looked a bit flustered and there was a strange air about the clientele - still lots of chavs! Felt a bit intimidating outside where all the smokers where, less inside. Still, great pint of Greene King XX Mild, but agree with others that it is far too expensive - 2 pints and a half of Abbott for 6.50.
|
Still overrun by chavs and kids. Shame. Management get tough.
|
went in before revamp. full of chippies and navvys. felt out of place, ordered, drunk up and left! bit intimidated
|
New landlord has started to make changes for the better, has got some beer on (sadly all Greddy King but you've got to start somewhere I suppose), and is worth a visit now.
There's plenty of scope here to turn this place into a top venue for the area. Can it be done?
|
Paul, the new landlord, is working hard to restore the Phoenix as a family pub following its 3 year stint as 'chav central' in Staines. 3 handpumps re-installed and serve a decent pint of Abbott and Old Speckled Hen. Hopefully he will have GK XX Mild on during May to celebrate CAMRAs Mild Month.
Keep up the good work Paul!

Be fair its only just gone under new management.
They have put n additional new screens, started booking bands on Thursday Friday and Saturday and are about to launch a new range of beers at very competitive prices.
I understand they have got a new expresso machine being installed and will be re-doing the menu using a new chef.
|
REVAMP!!!
OK, so there's no ale, the TV and jukebox are in fierce competition and there's still no reason to go in.
It's clean and there's no chavs...but there still seems to be no real vision here.
|
A place for a late drink but only when it actually stays open as late as it claims! We know it ain't cheap to offer but this town is Crying Out LOUDLY for a Music Venue, gotta be possible?
|
All this place needs like most of the Pubs in Staines is a little TLC.
So try with sorting out the f***ing toilet, it reminds me of that scene in Trainspotting. It's only a suggestion...
IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME
|
Pretty bad. Has the potential to be so much better. A venture-captialists dream should anyone in Staines know one.
|
Not the best pub in the world but just about the only place you can get to see a live band in Staines!

Pub on the fringe of Staines town centre thats never really managed to live up to its full potential. Huge beer garden next to the river Colne but the pub itself doesn't appeal enough for it ever to get full. Recent refurb hasn't increased its popularity either. Time for a rethink.

What's with this place? Awful.........!!!!!!!!

Nice place for a QUIET drink...!!!

Mainly youngsters. Beer good but very pricey. Very noisy music on occasions which push up the customers from 6 to 12 people and the extra six people seem to be with the band!! The most empty pub in Staines most of the time so something is not quite right. No atmosphere and lights too bright.

Good to see the kids still have somewhere to drink.
|
Now being run by dodgy ACBC, Andy Clark Bar Consultants. Not doing a bad job of the place, but wanna stop cutting corners!!!!

It may have Bud on tap but visiting on Halloween confirmed my suspicion that the pub is haunted as the beer was headless.

Ha ha. That'll be Shelley. I once asked for a Strongbow and a Fosters. She fetched two glasses down and said "A Stella and a Kronenbourg?" TOTALLY out there and a bit starey-eyed.
Looks much better in here after the refurb. Shame it wasn't as extensive as planned, but much brighter and cleaner.

fantastic beer garden - shame about the speed of service
never seen Father Ted there though

Large room upstairs where Irish labourers sleep, dormitory style. What a throwback to the 19th century! Great barman, gives my kid lemonade for free

The beer garden IS something to behold. It's so big it crosses three timezones and has it's own fully functional eco-system. The metallers pub of choice since the Blue Anchor booted them out. Most annoying as it's hard to enjoy a pint of the black stuff and watch Mick Mcarthy's lads when some unwashed rocker is playing air guitar to AC DC. Last thing you want after a hard days pheasant poaching.
|
I lost my ball down there once has anyone seen it ? It went under the table. And then all these people started laughing at me?

Largest beer garden in Staines, apparently.
