Just moved to Witham and was attracted from the outside. Looks like a proper pub. Unfortunately only 2 ales were on. I had the Deuchers. Was drinkable but not as good as it should have been. Barman was indfferent to the clientele. Will not be rushing back as plenty of other choices.

Had a Christmas Lunch here on Saturday. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. The landlady was was very friendly and had in fact come in specially on her day off to look after us. Will certainly visit again when back in the area.

Nice, cheap food and a fab juke box
|
Very quiet at lunchtime but a good pint of Greene King IPA. I need to practice my pool skills, I was rubbish!

Times change. Landlady not seen very often and when she is she looks miserable. Different folk drinking in there now and atmosphere gone. Time for a new landlord me thinks and bring it back to being a hip pub.

Have just read the last comment and would like to say "cobblers"!!
The Red lion is a friendly pub and I've not once had a flat beer. The landlady is a friendly, chatty person and tries to make everyone feel welcome. The food is great and reaonably priced.
Havent seen any villians yet, well, none that have admitted to it!!
All in all a friendly pub, with pool table, Juke box etc....and NO FIGHTS!! unlike some of the pubs in town...I can only wonder if Smurfaroo who left the last comment had been banned or had a bad hair day!!!

Unfortunately due to a management change, this pub is now a pit. Nicknamed 'Mos Eisley' because it's a hive of scum & villainy. The service is awful (generally the landlady is too busy talking with her mates), the pool table is uneven, the glasses are dirty and the real ale is VERY poorly kept.
Worst pub in Witham.
