A bit rough and ready-had the Natch with some red hot jalapeno pretzels which kept me happy!

Fairly basic local which could do with a bit of TLC. I think it's been tidied up a bit since I was last in there, but it could still do with a bit more. As others have said, there seemed to be a few "characters" in there. Pool table and darts board. Three hand pumps on the bar, but only one appeared to be in use, dispensing Courage Best. Also Addlestones & Blackthorn cider.

Friendly barstaff, but a bog standard local nevertheless with quite a few 'characters' who presumably find the Oxford just that bit too rough, but the Shakespeare too smooth.

Didn't see much to shout about a few months back, given that the rather super Shakespeare is within spitting distance.
No ale either, if I recall.

This is an absolutely brilliant pub to be in. The new owners are wicked and you can see that they are already making improvements in the pub! It is really clean and tidy with a nice crowd that go in there, mixed of all ages and walks of life. This really seems like the happening part of Totterdown which is what it needs... a fresh injection of enthusiasm and giving something back to their customers. They have good music on Thursday or Friday evenings and also every Sunday afternoon with a few nibbles on the bar. It is always the small insignificant things that make you feel glad that you are appreciated for using that pub! I would highly recommend it to everyone! And it will only get better!
