Always was a pub with a wonderful atmosphere when we used to come here for bar billiards (last century).

I totally agree with R.So & Dave (hi!) the Oak is superb local, I haven't seen any of these tatooed chavs in there that BOOFLES speaks of. The staff are friendly and efficient, especially the little guy, I find the price of a pint, or bulmers, average in the area but the pub does have the best facilities in Portslade. There is a terrific beer garden and large car park and also the local county side football team use it as their base. A very community led pub with a friendly mixed age group of customers. Worth a visit.

I agree with durrington dave{hi dave} that the review was harsh and i believe toatally incorrect.I am mainly an evening user of "the oak"and find the customers friendly and the bar staff straight from charm school. The conversation is both interlecteral and diverse making for a fun and relaxed atmosphere. On sunny days its so nice to hear families laughing ,sliding and swinging to their hearts content in the large beer garden. The beer is fairly priced considering the beer is kept in good order.i rarely visit the pub in the afternoon(i work fulltime) but on the occasions i have i found the punters to be friendly albeit to liking a good moan.i like the mile oak,its beer, its atmosphere and yes dave that dimpled little barman.i guess that even if one was drinking saki in an alternative tokyo bar one would still moan. yours R.So

My boyfriend moved to Mile Oak about three years ago and we never fail to visit whenever I'm over. I have to say I'm very surprised by the last review. We never fail to get chatting to one or more of the delightfully eccentric bunch of regulars. I particularly like the funny little barman who always has a cheeky little smile for the two of us. One of the main reasons we go in!!!

Exhorbitant prices, packed out (at weekends) with dogs, tattooed young women pushing buggies the size of Smart cars, brats and inarticulate youths. Some nice customers early on, but avoid this pub in the evening, unless you are really into Chav culture.

In my opinion, this pub is poorly run. The landlords clearly have little or no consideration for the kind of clientele or neighbouring areas / residents. Regularly, the clientele spill into the streets worse for wear, even aggressive.
