The pub is now open. Great news. Come and see for yourself

Currently closed and up for a new tenancy with Enterprise Inns

Attempted a visit here at 2pm today (7/1/15) but it was closed.
The pub does seem open and their was no signs that it had closed down, maybe it doesn’t open on a Wednesday lunchtime.

Really nice little pub, found it when I was avoiding the rain and the fireplace made the place really cosy. Def will come back again

Rex Rattus has it spot on.

The only real ale they had on was Courage Best. It was only 2.50 a pint, but a better ale would be welcome. There were only a handful of regulars in when I dropped in for a pint on a Wednesday afternoon. Its a fairly small pub; there was a dartboard, and furniture comprises a few stools round the bar plus normal tables and chairs. Its a real pub that displays no airs and graces. I felt very comfortable in there, and I definitely recommend dropping in for a pint or two if youre in the area (as long as youre happy to drink Courage Best!).

A warm welcome, including for Bertie the puppyish 20 month old Bedlington terrier, yesterday afternoon on a cold wet and blustery day. And a very well kept pint of Courage Best Bitter.

This is the oldest pub on the Island and many people walk straight past - thinking its full of rough East Enders. Well it is but you couldnt meet a nicer bunch. Never any trouble - I drank there for 7 years and still go back when I'm in the area. Beer is the usual pub stuff - only Courage Best, the rest is lager.
