Agree with previous reviewer, sterile pub serving mediocre beer at silly prices, the modern Manchester i'm afraid!

Visited early evening with a couple of friends. Ordered drinks (cask ale) and food. The food (fish and chips and cheese and onion pasty and chips) was no more than average. The ale was a disaster! We were told the cask needed changing. This was done and two pints were served without any pulling through. Both were sour. When returned to the bar, I was politely served with two more pints of the same. There was no offer of a taster, the barman made no attempt to taste it himself and there was no offer of an alternative. Several other casks beers were on at the time. These two pints were not as bad, but not good. I would not recommend this pub. 1/10.

Really lovely little pub, great beer and brilliant food. Highly recomended.

Nothing wrong with this pub - straightforward, clean, businesslike, has clearly had the few bob spent on it that earlier commenter was asking for. A nice little bolt hole if on business in Manchester city centre. 2x real ales on tap on my visit (Thwaites, Theakston's).

Visited this lovely pub the past weekend to be greated by warm welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere.
My partner and I enjoyed a fantasic meal; I had the eggs benedict to start which was served with a homemade hollandaise sauce, followed by the homemade steak and ale pie which were both outstanding!
My partner had the bury black pudding which came with a homemade mustard dressing then to follow he had the wild mushroom risotto which was dressed with a white wine, cream and garlic stock, he was silent through out which means he was really enjoying it!!!
I really cant stress enough how lovely this pub is and we shall be going again!!!!!!

Good atmosphere in here when I was in last Saturday night. Busy but not crowded. Landlord was on and it wasn't bad. Live entertainment in the shape of a fella with a guitar singing Irish songs went down well. Decor a bit clinical and bland but overall a decent boozer.

As of March 2010 now closed again, apparently

Went in sat 5th dec, the place was busy with a good atmosphere and decent ale, the decor in the pub is very similar to the town hall tavern in leeds.

This place is really getting a bit shabby these days, rips in the seating etc. Only had Deuchars on sale, which was very average and that's being kind to it. Efficient bar staff though. Needs a few quid spending on it to get it back to where it used to be a couple of years ago.

been going in here on & off for ages, still the same friendly little pub, great food, great beer, great staff, what more can i say

Beer choice poor, interior tired, loud music playing. Feels like a chain pub Not my idea of a decent city centre boozer. Go to the City Arms round the corner instead

A friendly and quiet pub in a side street away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. I visited recently (on a trip up from London) and there were plenty of seats on a Friday night. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Decor and toilets could do with some attention, but great for a reasonably priced pint and a chat with friends.
