This is a great pub and has certainly benefitted from the new management, Great pint of Otter Bitter.

Sadly, the landlord will be moving on soon. Pub Company has different ideas on the pub which is a shame as Barry has done a cracking job here. Always a selection of at least 4 real ales plus the friendly welcome, large beer garden and walls adorned with old beer bottles and framed pumpclips.

For all those interested there is a beer festival at the Rose and Crown this weekend (25th November - 28th November 2011)
Excellent and varied selection of real ale. Excellent live music most Saturdays. Friendly landlord, landlady and staff. Excellent and good value Sunday lunch. Best pub in the area. Highly recommended.
Still the best pub around and now in the Good Beer guide (2012 edition)... well done Baz And Jo
We also found the beer festival by chance and very welcome it was too. Having discussed this elsewhere many local beer drinkers who might have attended did not know that it was on. It was certainly not listed on my regular sources of information. I hope it was successful but I feel that better advertising may help any future event.

I am delight that I popped in here for the first time over the weekend, driven past this pub a few times, I am glad to of found it! plenty of ale for a decent choice. On the weekend was a beer festival themed for the Royal Wedding, around 20 ales to sample. I shall be back shortly!
This is one of the best pubs around! Popped in here on Bank Hoilday Monday (May 2nd) Just after the Royal Wedding, Their was a beer festival on offer which was a Royal Wedding Themed. 9 Real Ales on the Main Bar then 11 on offer on the Beer Festival Bar. So 20 in total for a decent choice. Royal IPA by Ascot Ales was the beer of the Festival in my mind. Excallant live band on offer. Its hard to find a pub like this anywhere around here. Lined Pint glasses are excallant, these are lined Pint, Half and Third.
Their a Large Beer Garden to be found, Also Tankards, BBQ, Regular Live Bands, Bar Snacks, Car Park and a Great Atmosphere which makes everyone Welcome.
On the bar is Addlestone Cider plus 9 changing ales plus Bottled Youngs Light Ale, Newcastle Brown Ale and Magners.
I shall be returning to this pub as it is excallant, and I will be back for the Beer Festival that is planned for August Bank Hoilday 2011!!!

This is a pub that knows what people like they care and share, 11 Real Ales per week no every day crap unique changing all the time FANTASTIC. YOU WELL NEED TO GO A LONG WAY TO FIND A PUB LIKE THIS ANY WHERE IN BERKSHIRE
A proper local pub, very clean yet unpretentious, excellent range of beers and some great bands on Saturday nights. Good traditional pub fare at lunchtime. Strongly recommend the Fat Boy Breakfast.
I would like to withdraw my previous comment about the obtrusive TV. If it was bothering me that much, then I should've just asked if it could be turned down slightly. I have no doubt the remote would have been available & the landlord has also subsequently sent me a message, which was also appreciated. Upped my rating accordingly
Excellent choice of seven ales in good condition and Addlestones Cider. Good value roast beef Sunday lunch. Very friendly staff and customers. The TV remote is available to turn the sound down if you think it is obtrusive. Would certainly hope to visit again soon.
High quality traditional inn with old beer bottles everywhere & a real fire. Popped in for a Sunday roast and although a mountain of veg, disappointing amount of meat. A roast like your Gran would make. Still lovely though. Landlord, bar staff & other customers all very friendly and chatty. Only other criticism is that the TV was a bit loud and somewhat obtrusive. Could easily while away a whole afternoon in here

This is a beer oasis with 7 hand pumps which are constantly changing. Its a proper pub with an open fire, great beer (you won't find Greene King but you will find offerings from all around the country) and a friendly atmosphere. Saturday night has live music and if you enjoy too much of the wide range of ales you can stay as Barry and Jo have three letting rooms!
7 Hand Pumps averaging 11 different beers per week. New food menu - Very friendly - Huge garden away from the road. Kept as a REAL PUB with history and live music what more could you want ? YOU NEED TO GO AND SEE IT.
This pub has very recently been extended. A very good range of real ales, seems to concentrate on the more well known ales but you will also find a couple of the more unusual beers as well, I had the fff Alton Pride which was in very good condition. I think this pub is free of any tie. The beer garden is large and is very nice on a sunny day. Convenient for the train station too.
Good honest pub, serving a good range (excellent for the area) of handpumped beers. Bateman's XB, Old Hookey, Brakspear;s Ordinary, Ringwood 49er and Young's Waggledance. Bateman's and Fortyniner were most acceptable. Should be in the GBG IMHO.
Barry has recently been awarded Cask Marque Accreditation. Well done Barry and Jo. Fantastic ales, always well kept. Best pub in Sandhurst by far.
Good beer in friendly surroundings. Decor? Looks like a proper pub to me, a rare commodity in Sandhurst. Barry's bottle and pump clip collection will occupy anyone with an interest in beer paraphernalia for ages.
Great pub, fantsatic real ales. Brilliant music at weekends. Barry and Jo well done - superb first year. Looking forward to year 2 and beyond.
We live in America and had the fortune to stay at the Rose and Crown for three days. The landlord and landlady Barry and Jo wecomed us like family, very nice people. This place has a great selection of REAL ales somthing you don't find here good menu also. This place was exactly how we imagined a good english pub to be, hope for a re-visit in the future.
Good pub - Good food - fantastick real ales always changing, Not many pubs like this left. Decor coming on realy well with the bottle colletion bringing it back to look like a real pub. Very worm welcome from landlord and landlady needs a visit if you like real ales then this is the one to go
Barry and Jo are doing a good job getting this pub into shape. Good choice of beers - Ansells Mild, Batemans XB, Deuchars and excellent Otter last evening. The garden should be good when it is finished and they now have 3 letting bedrooms too. Good local, good beers, something of a dying breed, unfortunately.
Excellent Beers probably the only pub in Sandhurst that serves five real ales every weekend. The decor needs a bit of a facelift but on speaking with the Landlord I understand that this is being addressed shortly. Fantastic Garden which should be great for the summer and the recent introduction of food is also a bonus. I would suggest to all readers that this pub is well worth a visit.
The beer here is excellent, as others point out. Yes, the decor is humdrum, but it's a small place with very friendly landlord and drinkers to compensate. There used to be a bar billiards table, and I mourn its departure - where will we ever play again? On the upside there's a good juke box with lots of music that doesn't play too loud.
I don't quite know where the pub has lost its direction but since the departure of the old land lady I would have liked to have seen perhaps little changes in decor and perhaps a new lay out or something this pub does not seem to have changed much though it could do with a face lift.
This pub did used to be known for its ales and it still serves a good rang though the proof is in the taste and sometimes over pubs in the local area do better.
small, good landlady and do great parties in the garden now and then. Some very good beers to boot.

This pub had a great Gig in the Garden (14th July) watch out for the next one on 25th August
I've had to place another comment and raise my rating as now they sale Magners!!!! Fantastic!!!!!
Now fully restored to the Rose and Crown. Five cask ales on now; all excellent quality. Its so good to see a pub landlord take pride in looking after his real ales. This is by far the best pub in Sandhurst. Long may it last.
Also called the Rose and Rown! Think it's about time they put the letter back. Very good selection of beers. Seems like somewhere slightly older people tend to go. Has live music occasionally
Will2 - 22 May 2006 19:06 |
Has an interesting choice of beers available so take your fancy. The seating is alright but be prepared to be moved around a bit incase of live music. Has a jukebox as well if you are tempted
Very much improved. Went in with my dad the day after Boxing Day and there were 4 cask ales on, a real log fire and a friendly welcome.
We drank lots of beer and played shove half-penny. At 35 I'm pretty sure I was way the youngest there but it was lunch-time, classic old man drinking time, and the music must draw a few more in.
Long may it last, Sandhurst could do with a decent place to drink.

Recently been taken over by a lovely landlady who makes everyone feel very welcome. 100% improvement on what the Rose & Crown used to be. A small cosy pub with a large back garden and front decking. Perfect for those summer evenings. Soul, Blues and funk etc played live on almost every Saturday night. Highly recommended for a quiet drink and a lovely sociable atmosphere.
