user reviews of the Raven Inn, Wem

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Situated just outside of Wem in the small hamlet of Tilley, the Raven is a foodie pub that is seemingly very popular and also has a good selection of ales and ciders. The barman was rushed off his feet as all tables were taken, mostly with diners and an outdoor area to the rear also full. Some punters were being turned down when arriving on spec for a table. Beers on were Hobsons Bitter, Three Tuns Rantipole, Coach House Ostlers SPA & Offa's Dyke Grim Reaper. The 2 Hogans ciders were Hazy Daisy & Picker's Passion. Wouldn't have minded trying the food. But this is a nice country pub that must have a good reputation locally.

Four real ales from independent breweries plus 2 cask ciders. I tried two of the ales (1 good, the other average). The snug is a bit like someone's front room. Aside from there, the tables and chairs are aimed at diners.

Also known as the Tilley Raven, obviously a food pub with a small but cosy snug. Brilliant beers - obscure real ales very well kept. Food also excellent - best we have had in years - not cheap but well worth it. We went early and did not have to wait long but we expect it gets busy. Well worth checking out - looks to be a great place to take friends who come to stay with us.

Went for a meal here with a load of friends and was greeted by a Rothwieler!! The food was stunning and the young waiting on staff were good the only bad side was the manager/supervisor lady. She was a abrupt, rude, truly horrible lady, and should really think off a career change as a 'people person' she is not!!

Well refurbished pub, bright light and airy.didn,t try the food, there were only four people eating,We drank one of the real ales and must admit was very good, finnished of with a couple of Brandies, nice to see that someone remembers too warm the glasses first, and also were aksed if we would like to dine, another plus point overall a very pleasant welcome..

Sorry, but after an extremely disappointing evening here a couple of Fridays ago I take back my comments -the food was overdone nigh on burnt, the landlord arrogant when I complained and told me thats how the food should be! The beer was also mediocre - won't be back in there.

Quaint black/white pub with a host of floral displays during spring/summer done by the current owner.A warm welcome on a one too one basis with the current owner whose wife is also the chef.I opted for the large gammon which was a 12oz treat.homemade recipes on the menu, and a real step back in time on the decor.A busy little etablishment, mainly diners.
