Grapes, Bicton Heathback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Dreadful food, poor management, poor preparation. Rock hard Moussaka frozen in middle, 8 months ago, I vowed I would never return. I did a favour for a elderly friend and she wanted to take me to a carvery at The Grapes, I was too polite to say anything she is 76 years old. We arrived Thurs 31st Dec 09 to find the Beef was very very bloody, she can't eat Pork and the Gamon as they called it was remnants, stringy with load of inedible stuff included. She chose this. 3 veg on today sprouts very chewy, red cabbage almost salad like (raw) and carrots. We ate some of it but it was a big mistake. She complained about the Gamon being tough, dry and stringy and ther being little vegetables. We left most of the meal..but she had to pay the full price the Manageress took her money and refused to give her the head office address and said there were Parsnips on.. I asked where they were. She gave her the change and we left for good.

Me my other half and our 3 year old son went here for lunch last sunday, we waited 20 mins before anybody came to see us at our table, we asked for the menu, and were waiting for another 20 mins before we ordered!! I had the spinich & mushroom lasana, my other half had the carvery and our son had sausage mash and gravy.
The food was discusting, My sons was SMASH and was so thick he gagged on the first mouthfull, His sausage was rock hard I couldnt even bite into it let alone a 3 year old. The cavery my fella had was the same, The pot's were raw, The yorkie runny, No Rosties, No chicken, Mine wasnt too bad but for 8 the quality was crap Only 1 piece of pasta and about 3 mushrooms!!!!
When i went to pay that took another 25 mins, The girl behind the bar really didnt know what she was doing, I called the manager over ask told her i wanted to pay, explained that my son didnt touch his meal, explained about the raw food on my fellas cavery, and she just said Oh im sorry next time u come i will give you a free meal I said i wouldnt be going again as the service we received wasnt what we expect when we go out for a meal, she was begging me to give them another try, told me to get there earlier next time and said try and not come on a sunday "Nice lady eh?" again i said we wouldnt be returning and asked for my change, she just said Oh ok bye!!!
whilst there we witnessed 4 people walk out 1 couple even didnt pay as they had been waiting too long to try and pay, another couple had walked off as they had been waiting over half an hour for there drinks!!!
This place used to be nice. But i will never step foot in there again!!! DISCUTTING FOOD AND DISCUSTING ATTITUDE FROM THE MANAGER!!! STAY CLEAR!!!!

before the refurb the food was disgusting so we gave it a wide berth , we went back today and the refurb was gorgeous , however the price of the food was too expensive for a lunch menu , the menu was lacking in choice , when the food arrived after 45 mins despite us being the only diners , the pan fried chicken was dry the new potatoes were black and discolored they were burnt at the bottom as were the veg charred in fact , they try to disguise it in sauce , i had steak and kid suet pudding , with chips , it was disgusting a hard pastry not steamed as a pudding should be thick chips which had been refried a tsp of gravy which had not been mixed properly and had solidified lumps in it , the chicken was taken back and we werent charge , i had had enough and left my meal the suet pudding sat like a lead brick , the cost of the meals were iro43 without drinks a 2 yr old a teenager and 3 adults new refurb but old chef who couldnt even mix gravy granules , i will not be making a return visit , want to complain to brewery but cant find who they are

This was rubbish! Had to wait an hour before we even got served. The food was horrible - sandwich had dry bread, pasta filling was powdery and parts of the menu were missing e.g yorkshire pudding not available ,sorry! On top of that, the waitress (think she runs the place) was rude as hell, shouting comments across the pub like she only had one pair of hands. Never going there again and wouldn't even recommend it to someone with severe malnutrition.

Poor service, waited about 10 mins for our drinks. Food arrived in dribs and drabs, I had finished mine before the rest arrived. Some of the food was not as ordered. 'Stack sandwich' consisted of two dry pieces of bread, no butter, no salad, no dressing, two pieces of meat. We were the youngest in there by about 50 years
Highly Unrecommended.
