Nice pub, bigger than expected, pleasant barmaid, decent beer garden, 4 ales on, I had Hobson's 'Town Crier'; a nice pint.

Small pub bang opposite the Theatre Severn, so naturally tending to cater for that trade. Inside it has been done up with 7 or 8 large wooden tables taking up most of the space. With low ceilings, there are various notices (some humorous, some not) on the walls, but not much decoration besides. There is also a large screen TV at the back – unusually not showing Sports !
All the tables had menus on them, but nobody objected when I sat at one, and didn’t order food (I’d already eaten). I did take a look at the menu, and it seemed to be more or less standard pub grub (including jacket potatoes and sandwiches), and wasn’t cheap. Other seating was bar stools round the bar BTW.
And now to the best part – the beer. There were 4 beers available. Naturally I had the Brains Rev James, and had a long discussion about how he was my great great great grandfather. And it was in tip top condition as well – the best kept beer I’d tasted all week. [ Other beers were Castle Rock Harvest Pale, Wye Valley Butty Bach and Hobsons Town Crier ]
The only down side was the place was rather understaffed, with just one girl having to do absolutely everything (except cook the food), and being run off her feet.
7/10 – a good choice for my first excursion into Frankwell – I shall be back.

Decent pub just opposite the Severn Theatre - had a swift one before a concert on a Friday night. One Hobson's, Hppback Crop Circle and one other on pump - I had the Hobson's and it was a decent pint. Interior has been modernised at some point but still has a small pub atmosphere. Plenty of parking close by so not bad at all.

Now serving Hobsons Bitter which has been added to the Punch list. It was a very good pint as well when I called in last week.

Thanks very much for your comments , just to let you know we would very much like to support local breweries however we are a Punch Tavern so can only purchase off a very restricted list which we agree is a shame. Cheers Ellen & Mandy (Licensees)

Nicely kept locals pub just across the Welsh bridge. 3 handpumps on the bar serving Spitfire, Deuchars and Old Rosie cider. Supporting good local brews then? Er no. Efficient service, I had a pint of Spitfire which was well kept. There was quite a lot of banter going on between a bunch of girls in one corner and a bunch of guys who looked as if they had just finished work on a building site somewhere close by. Very amusing. Not a bad little pub, I'll call in again.

Visited during the Shrewsbury Folk Festival when the pub was very busy, being on the route between the festival site and the main campsite. Friendly staff and a lively atmosphere, although the beer (two handpulls) wasn't much to write home (or here) about. Food was substantial and tasty.
