Great local pub. Extremely welcoming. Great beers such as Oxford Gold and Cockahoop. New managers due to take over at the end of October with new guest beers and building on cask ales. Has live entertainment and I am reliably informed more live entertainment is planned. Have an updated Facebook page so watch their page for news and events

As has been said in other reviews this is a very friendly very local small pub. Very nice indeed. Enjoyed a nice pint of Snecklifter, my favorite, but they also ha Cocker Hoop on along with some other paler ales, a nice mix. There was a small band of merry locals at the bar when we entered and within five minutes we were caught up in the conversation. Have been calling into Shrewsbury for the last 10 years doing various different pub crawls and never knew this pub existed until driving past on the last visit. Will be calling in more often. You can walk into town easily too either along the riverside and under the railway bridge or over the footbridge to the castle.

Every town needs a pub like this. Probably one of the best pubs I/We have visited. Beer always spot on, this week it was Okells Premium Steam Beer and Hook Norton Cotswold Lion as 'guests'. Staff and locals very friendly and remembered us from our last visit as if we had never been away! The last of seven(?) pubs in this part of Castlefields, long may it prosper!

A proper pub. Very friendly locals. Worth seeking out. Not far from the station.

Nice 'locals' Marston pub in a quiet back street, two rooms, friendly bar staff and customers, nice and comfortable. 4 hand pumps, we had Everards 'Equinox' and St Austell 'Trelawny Gold' both were good.

Locals' pub in a pleasant suburb of Shrewsbury behind the station and near the river and jail, quite leafy and with attractive terraced houses. Its easy to miss but i recommend you don't, as it's a proper little boozer and the beer is excellent. Jennings cocker Hoop, Cumberland and Marstons Empire available on my visit, the cocker hoop was in good fettle. The basic tap room is where everybody was on my visit- not unfriendly or intimidating at all. It has a wooden floor and traditional furnishings. Also an electric fire and unobtrusive TV. The Lounge can only be reached by going into the yard where the toilets are and in again, and its a bit more spruced up but nobody was in on a Saturday afternoon. Good pub, worth the 5 minute walk out of town

Despite the previous sentiment from 18 months ago by some anonymous muppet I called in here last night. It's a nice little locals pub in a residential area well away from the town centre. It has a comfortable lounge reached via a separate side entrance or through the bar. This was full last night as there appeared to be a meeting of some kind on. I had a drink in the tap room which has a dart board, fruit machine and a quiz machine. Three handpumps on each bar serving Pedigree, Brakspears Oxford Gold and Jennings Cockerhoop. Had a pint of the Oxford Gold which was excellent. It was pretty quiet in this room but everyone seemed friendly enough. I'll certainly call in again.

keep away, this is our pub! Go somewhere else, we don't want your kind round here.

Lovely little pub, extremely friendly and a good selection of ales. Shame now the extended licensing laws are now in place that it shuts earlier than before!

Perhaps I'm a little less easy to intimidate than our anonymous friend, but I find it a very easy pub to find someone to talk to. I do agree about the high standard of real ales which rotate frequently. Can be smokey and is small so can be crowded, but well worth a visit.

Much frequented by the locals, because of a) the high standard of cask beers b) the friendly atmosphere c) a very 'local' local It can be a bit intimidating to newcomers, as everyone knows each other but, once accepted, no problem. Good darts, cribbage and domino competitions in the winter. Plus a golf society and fishing interests. Enters the local inter-pub quiz in the winter. A bookshelf includes a selection of volumes to provide information when needed. A monthly pub quiz, with taking going to a local charity. Occasional 'gastronomic' events, if and when appropriate. Dogs allowed, even welcomed, with dog biscuits supplied. Unfortunately, no drinking allowed outside because of problems with the neighbours!
