Another old characterful pub tucked away down a little alleyway and easily overlooked. Like Kelly's Cellars, a watering hole for those who like a bit of character and rough 'n' ready old-time 'charm'.
The food looked/smelled good and the ale was spot-on and sensibly priced for the city.
As fresh visitors to the area we were taken aback by the film festival being held, complete with popcorn supplied to customers watching the film outside in the alley! Obviously a favourite of the students.
Enjoyed a pleasant evening playing cards and supping ale. Liked the Halloween decor too!

Smashing old boozer, only trouble is its size. Little room especially on a hectic Saturday afternoon with pals.
Annoying bloke ruined the experience to the point of us leaving. Faking a fall just to receive attention simply doesn't wash with me. Funny how he kept hold of his drinks when on the floor!

As it proudly proclaims on it's outside wall, Whites Tavern is Belfasts oldest pub dating back to 1630. It has a rather more modern exterior but whilst it might not look like Belfasts oldest tavern I found it one of the friendliest with the famous Irish craic well in evidence. An impromptu guitar session was going on outside on my first visit and a young lady insisted, despite my protestations, on buying my pint because she had jumped in front of me at the bar (I could drink all night for free in London on that basis). On my second visit it was quieter as it was during the afternoon but I got chatting to a guy about local pubs and Belfast in general and we could easily have ended up sharing a few more beers if I hadnt had other plans.

Reputedly the oldest in Belfast and tucked away down yet another secret entry. Has the air of antiquity and some bits certainly are old, but I'm not sure how much of it is totally original. Excellent lunchtime food and a pleasantly busy atmosphere. Can't vouch for the ladies, but some old memorabilia in the gents. One of the better experiences in the city.

This is a nice wee secret boozer. Good service I even had my first Guinness here. You can feel the history here. I will definitely come back and visit this great pub again soon.

Great little pub. Inside and Out. Lovely when the weather is warm to stand outide, and nice warm and cosy when inside. Bar staff work hard to please the ever so demanding and large crowd. My only gripe too is the lonely disabled toilet for women. What happens when a disabled woman wants to use the toilet that 400 oranged fake tanned Irish women are using? Still a gr8 pub though, good one!

Oldest pub in Belfast. Best Guinness in town, and even good wine. Very friendly staff, and delicious food. Lovely on a Sunday afternoon, bit crowded on Saturday night. Only one complaint: one-hole women's toilet is the "Disabled" toilet!

Very old and quant. Good service and nice selection of lagers on tap. Historically began in 17th/c and reputed to have been an old brothel in the olden days.
