Though relatively quiet here, on the edge of the city and later in the evening (Saturday), we walked in, surveyed the possible ale choice and walked straight back out - nothing struck us as being readily a pint to make us stop, pleasant though the surroundings might be.

dreadful undrinkable pint of Whitewater Belfast ale at £3.70 - not a very friendly and amenable place either.

Lovely pub. Visited on a quiet Monday night and plenty of seats available. Best pint of Guinness I've ever had and staff very efficient and friendly. No live music when I went but decent music being played, ie not the computer generated crap you usually hear. This particular night they were playing very old blues stuff like Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters at al. Bliss.

The pint of Whitewater Belfast Ale quaffed was spot on :-p 8/10

Interesting old looking bar with a dark characterful interior of bareboards, and wood panelling, the upstairs restaurant is more modern in style. Interesting art work and old newspapers on the walls, candles on tables in one part of the downstairs bar, seating on chairs with a central vertical drinking area by the central bar, I also noticed a stool constructed of cog wheels and a crankshaft. Mainly keg beers served by on the ball young staff, the only ale being Whitewater Belfast Ale on handpump in reasonable condition. Punters were mainly youngish with a few middle aged couples.

Nothing special... large well-worn pub, beer was poor. Somewhere to sit out a shower.

Another crowded pub with music too loud. The interior was appealing and two real ales were on offer - Whitewater Copperhead Ale and Holts Joey's Ale. I imagine this could be a very pleasant pub on a weekday or during the afternoon.

Two distinct frontages, one old one new, that lead to the same bar with restaurant upstairs. Has claims as one of Belfasts oldest but seems quite modern. Interesting display of two Belfast News front pages from 1994 reporting ceasefires from Republican and Unionist viewpoints. Two real ale pumps but only one in use, Mayflower.

Brilliant pub, modern looking despite its age (almost rivals the Crown for looks). Food was great pub grub, and two beers were on - the beer from Devon (!) was new to me but very tasty.

Went there early Friday evening (about 20.00)on a w/end visit to Belfast. Have to say that food was excellent but v. disappointed that two hand pumps were not available.
Seemed to be live music earlier but atmosphere by about 22.00 was a bit tired so went to the Kitchen instead
