Superb pub, came joint top on our crawl even though its another Greene King pub. Lovely pint of Ruddles, good choice of lager and the best pint of Guinness all day. Its lucky we didnt hit this place first, we may not have left.

A proper pub, a hidden gem of what pubs used to be like. Was recommended by a friend as the best pint of Guinness for miles, he wasnt wrong. Dont get to Newmarket very often but will make a point of going back next time i'm over.

Friendly pub in terms of staff and locals on my visit. Unfortunately only GK IPA on offer so not a huge draw on the beer front but would have happily stayed for the company.

Very friendly pub on an early Friday Evening. Both the staff and customers were very friendly with good conversation. Another G/K pub with only IPA available so we only had a half. Trouble was that we were talking too much and had to order a second. The pub was split into two sides. Two TV's were available with England Cricket on one and Euro 2008 on the other.

Ive now been to newmarket 3 times and i love the pub. The staff do make you feel very welcome....My mates from Surrey will def pop in.

It is possible to disagree with the fact that being very close to a large night club makes no differance to the fact that the Yard is a very friendly and well run pub, Its the people that make the differance !!!!

I must disagree with the last posted comment although the Yard is very close to a large night club this does not effect the pub itself. I have spent many nights in the Yard and it is a very friendly pub with welcoming owners and bar staff. It is a gr8 all round pub! It is always clean and tidy and the service is of a top standard even when busy.
Due to the dedication of the staff there is never any trouble. It is a pub where you can go out drinking and feel safe.
It has a very large beer garden out back with seating area's (gr8 now the summer is on it's way)
