Pub looks attractive from the outside and has a safe garden to the front on a quiet village road, laid out with tables. Inside it is a little lacking in character even bland as it has been madeover to the usual standard pub designer interior. I would like to see a few more original artifacts displayed in this historic village pub. I felt the food menu wasn't very adventurous, the usual ham, egg and chips, some pastas, sausages, steak & ale pie with short pastry and too much carrot, come on, it should be puff pastry. I'd like to see rabbit pie or phesant on the menu, that would impress. Limited space to sit down and just drink inside as you feel that you are expected to eat. I had read this was a microbrewery, but doesn't seem to be in operation anymore. Ales were O.K. I have had better, probably not cold enough for me. I might go there again if I was in the area, but would depend what beer was on pump.

Called in there on recent Saturday lunchtime. The house brew was nice and reasonably priced, there were alternatives such as Woodfordes Wherry.
Lady behind the bar friendly.

Usual problem about no real space for drinkers who are not eating. As it had rained the outside seats were not really an option. Fortunately the pub was not too crowded and all the tables had just a candle - not a candle and place settings as in the past which does rather put you in your place.

Very friendly and hospitable staff in this quaint village pub in a pleasant village. May be a little cramped inside with the tables etc but still has a pub feel. There's a tabled patio kind of area out front where tobacco fiends can indulge and the horsey fraternity can tie up their steeds. The Woddfordes Wherry was pretty much on form and the house beer on offer (a very pale 4.1% pale ale) was a very drinkable pint. Occasional number 10 buses from Cambridge and Newmarket stop across the green.

Beautiful pub and garden in a beautiful village location.
Normally have two home-made ales (reasonably priced) and a couple of guest ales (Adnams etc).
On busy days most of the tables laid for food, which is over-priced in my opinion. The atmosphere thus becomes more of a restaurant than a pub (shame).

Tried the micro beer but it was undrinkable maybe it was my fault I dont know.. other beers were much better tasting although nothing special.Mostly a restaurant serving fresh fish and customers sitting in the bar gives little room for us drinkers.I usually sit in the garden outside.

A particularly attractive pub in a beautiful village, fortunately with outside seating as the interior is set for diners. The beers were pretty undistinguished in range, the village Micro brewery beer (not attached to the pub) was not on although there was a spare pump.
I should think that wet Sunday lunchtimes are manic, but very pleasant on our visit.

Lovely pub, quiet village location, overlooking green.

Much of pub taken over by food, you can hardly move for dining tables; it would benefit from more of a balance, there's hardly anywhere for drinkers to sit. There is a pleasant locals bar but it's rather small.

Their own home brew was excellent and the production and variety should increase later this year when the new brewhouse opens. Two good ales and a handpumped cider, which is good to see.

I understand the pub now has its own microbrewery.

Time for another visit, methinks!

I like the pub but it is not what it was before it closed (I understand it is run by villagers now).

My visits are always on Saturday lunchtime in Autumn en route to Newmarket. It is physically the same (and very attractive) but now food seems to be king. I am not keen going into a pub where every table is set for diners (you can stand!). (Yes I know it's economics). Also the beer is less interesting - they always used to have some from small local micros like Three Chimneys.

So a good pub, and good that it is still open, but could be better.

I am very surprised to see that this pub has such a low rating. It is a beautiful pub in a beautiful location, with tables overlooking the village green. Well worth a visit for a lazy summer drink. My mates rave about the food too, but I have never eaten here.
