Smart village pub beside the River Avon with lovely riverside terrace. Looks as though it's had a redec' recently. We had an adequate snack lunch and although the beer choice is limited, the Wye Valley Butty Bach was very good. We walked from Pershore across the meadow and riverside. If you get a chance look at the ancient church in the villlage

Visited on Wed 19th Sept 2012..........nice pub, very attentive and jolly bar staff, and although the beer range could have been better, 3 nationals and one local (Wye Valley, very nice too), the food was excellent, all in all well worth the visit and recommended.

New owners and bar staff took over this beautiful village pub in August 2010 and have completely turned it round. The food is great, the service is friendly and the riverside beer garden is sublime in the summer evenings. Well worth a visit if you're passing, by car or on the river :-)

Recently visited The Anchor on a cycling trip and it provided a fitting end to a long sunny day on the bike. We enjoyed well kept Piddle in the Hole (I believe the head brewer dropped in for a pint, which is usually a good sign) and properly cooked rare steak in the comfort of the riverside garden, which has several levels of decking and lighting for when the sun sets. The staff were friendly and even made me up a chocolate brownie half an hour after the kitchen had shut. It looks like a new landlord has made a real difference from earlier reviews. Well worth a visit.

Recently taken over and completely refurbished. Great riverside gardens and spectacular decking area. Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Good food, well kept beers. Well worth a visit after years of neglect, especially in the Summer.

This used to be a great pub with wonderful food, but I totally agree with the reviewer below. The last time I visited (in 2008) I vowed I wouldn't ever go back. Happy memories of sitting by the river drinking the local ales have been spoilt.

Very poor - the beer was sour - I had the nerve to request a change of pint that was very reluctantly granted (the landlady was more intersted in chatting to her mate on her mobile phone). The replacement was also poor, stale and too warm for a living product such as ale.
They make a big deal about "traditional pub food" this amounts to microwaved pre-packed cottage pie and the like (at the traditional price of a tenner). The owners obviously see this as a money spinning operation and have no feel for what a good pub comprises of. With a location like this there is really no excuse not to get it right. Why do we put up with this?

Enjoyed my Wyre Piddle, Piddle in the Hole beer at this riverside pub in the charming village. Popular for food too.
