Good choice and quality of beer and good food too. As with most local country pubs booking ahead for an evening meal advised at weekends.

booked a table for seven to have a carvery in november. we were rushed through the meal because they were running late and needed the table for someone else. we were expected to sit eat in half an hour.there is no facilty for push chairs told to leave it outside.if you visit with a baby you will be treated like a leper.the staff were ok and under presure by the manager who seems to have a small chip on his shoulder and cant speak to customers or staff, unless your his friend or the blond assistant manager. i will not visit again would recomend the spread eagle in hereford instead, or travel up the road.manager should spend more time with customers and not just his assistant manageress

Excellent carvery but unfortunately you only get a very small portion of meat.

Things seem to be improving now the old manager is back. lets hope he can get the food and service back upto standard.

Shame about this pub. It should be good but it's just not. Had a 'bloomer' sandwich which was cut from the end not the middle so it was tiny! it just feels like a not very well run chain pub. It needs a little soul.

The food is O.K. The beer is O.K. The service is O.K. So what is missing? There seems to me to be no atmosphere, no characters, no craick. Shame really or maybe its just me.

Always good beer on tap and comfortable surroundings - but the food's a bit hit and miss. OK if you like a bog standard carvery - and don't order a turkey sandwich - it comes without butter and tastes like cardboard. The steak pie is usually OK.
