This place was never up to much in recent years, but it now seems to have been dealt two kisses of death. According to the Cambridge News of 12 November 2012 two things have happened: first, the entire car park has been taken over by travellers and is now an encampment of caravans. The second is "Cambridge University’s Lucy Cavendish College is considering building accommodation for its scholars".

GREAT LOCAL PUB! This pub was renamed (The Ranch) and came under new management several years ago. It had a make-over and the current staff are really great. Recently there is a new chef so food has improved. The best thing about this place, apart from the staff, is the garden. It is large and enclosed so we can take the kids there without having to worry at all, and the staff are very positive to kids. This is my local pub and I go here at least once a week. It puts a smile on my face and that is not just the pint of Aspall's talking!

Good Guiness (I think), but no sign of the Youngs or any other real ales recently sighted. Very basic, but very friendly.

Neither the terrible place it's reputation suggests, or particularly good either. At least the faux-American theming of 'Fat Jacks' failed miserably to return to a proper British pub.
