Popped in for a quick drink a couple of weeks ago. Three Ales on including Adnams and Woodfords which were good. Tables outside in front to sit at. We will go here again.

Now open, and tastefully modernised. 2 beers from Adnams and Woodforde's Wherry on the pumps when I visited, and the food looked good as well. The beer prices are cheaper than those at the Bull as well. Well worth a visit.

A lot of work going on here. It is rumoured that the hotel will reopen next month. Watch this space!

Closed at present. Local gossip is that alterations will be made, and the pub will be open by Easter. I hope so - Walsingham needs 2 pubs at least during the busy pilgrim season.

Can't understand comments about high prices as the Black Lion is the cheaper pub in the village (and was last time I visited too!) Local ales now feature too, along with very good food. Well worth a visit.
Outdoor seating not only at the front but in a courtyard at the back too.

Now visited. A couple of Woodforde's beers are now available, including a lovely dark ale. Prices are high though, and trade seems to have gone to the nearby Bull as a consequence. Walsingham needs 2 pubs, and it would be a shame if the high prices killed this pub off. Needs watching, I think!

Now reopened and much improved. Accomodation very reasonable and a couple of well kept cask ales available at reasonable prices for the area (just a shame they aren't local ales such as Wherry!)
Worth a visit.

Appears to be open again. Not yet tried.

Currently closed. I hope it reopens before the main season starts.

I'd echo what most have said; nice unpretentious place, very old-fashioned, they keep an OK pint, and the locals have a high weirdo quotient

We moved on to the Bull when some god-bothering teens came out of the church next door and started playing hymns on a guitar and singing badly. It was a bit bizarre to see 19 year olds doing what 19 year olds do - drink, smoke, flirt, show off, get embarrassed a lot - whilst still praising the lord in every other breath, but hey, that's Walsingham

a slightly odd place. i expected to hear duelling banjoes drifting out form a back room. fine pints of camerons ruby ale and a light fluffy woodforde's sundew which was perfect for the hot weather.

it seemed to me that the god botherers and bible bashers staying here were very keen on testing the brewers' abilities to turn water into interestingly alcoholic drinks. and i can confirm that the locals are an eccentric bunch, but this won't come as much of a surprise if you've staying in walsingham for any length of time.

Stayed at the Black Lion for a few days this week. Good food (the mixed grill was very good value!) with a restaurant area to the back.

Two cask ales; I drank the Wherry which was excellent, there was also another Woodfordes ale on as well.

Recommended; well worth a visit!

What a great pub -- a really warm welcome, an even warmer fire and a nice pint. Eccentric locals. Shabby but comfortable interior. Just like pubs used to be -- long may it prosper.

I'd go there out of season - Walsingham is probably the biggest shrine in the UK - hence the over-abundance of Christians noted by other corespondents. As an experiment, maybe a few lions should be added to the native fauna? But the pub is a friendly unspoilt local with good beers. Haven't tried the food yet as there has been (in January and so far in Feb) a sign outside saying 'no food today' Maybe the chef has been enshrined?

Not been here for years, glad to see the beer is still good
