Apparently the manager has a penchant for Mr Jack. Probably the best student pub in canterbury.

Special offers if you are a student, otherwise it is full price. Very student oriented, can't complain, education is a big part of city life and has to be catered for, and non students are just as welcome by the laid back and competent staff. Nice starting off venue for an evening out.

Large and friendly, lots of special offers, pool table and comfy seatage. On the downside, it's a fair way out of town and it's nearly always packed to bursting.

It will never be as good as the old Penney, and let's face it, it's only another chain "It's A Scream" pub.

This pub is fantastic, it has a great atmosphere and superb staff. it really is the only place to drink in canterbury!!!!!

I liked this pub, pool tables.. some low ceilings.. plenty of space. One of the good ones in Canterbury.

The penny is bar far the best place to go out in canterbury. The staff are lovely, and they're open til twelve on weekends. but ads doesn't look like pacey and i heard it was pretty small too....don't worry though cuddles, it could be worse, tee hee.

No matter how good this pub is now, it will never replace the original Penny Theatre - the only truly independent night venue in Canterbury.
It is still sorely missed.

It is part os the "Scream" chain they have all the usuals pool tables, machines, games, big screen. they are open late on weekends and they have a resident DJ. the atmosphere is good and the booze is affordable. what else do you need!!
