This pub seems to have closed. It's all boarded up and the building was for sale.

I was really surpsised by the interior having driven past this pub on many occasions yet never been in. Felt like I was sitting in someone's living room or in a B&B, definitley not a pub feel. This is no criticism however as we were made to feel very welcome, the friendly Irish landlady (I presume?) showed us to the fire when we arrived bloody freezing and even turned it up for us and was very chatty. Nice pint of Spitfire but Late Red had run out which was the only reason we shivered our way up here from the Britannia. Landlady was very hospitable tho and told us when she was getting more in so I'll be back later in the week!

Seems to have acquired what can only be described as rather downmarket clientele, if my visit last Saturday afternoon was typical. Admittedly it was after 3 pm, but there was no sign of the pub doing food at all, so has the chef referred to in the Feb 05 posting disappeared already ?
Spitfire was on form, but this seems to be a pub with little, if any, beer trade, so I'm not sure if this will always be the case.
I can't see myself rushing back here, given that the splendid Red Cow is close at hand

Having just moved to the area I needed a good, friendly welcoming drinking establishment within staggering distance and the 'Finger' is certainly that. Great pub, good range of Ales and Beer, (not the usuall stuff you find on the high street), never too crowded, and great barstaff! The only critisism I have is that it could do with a coat of paint! (Which I am sure my flatmate and I could do for a few ales!)

This pub has had it's fair share of problems, however, the new Irish team running it have hospitality down to a tee and are slowly but surely putting the place in order. It is in a great spot, away from the madness of Richmond High Street on a Friday and Saturday night. Could do with a lick of paint inside, but other than that, a great place to get a drink and tease the bar maid!

There is a new chef starting - watch out for the daily menu, simple and effective - nice pub grub like it should be.... eyeyeyeye Feb 05

How can they still call this pub the Bishops Finger, when they fail to serve Bishops Finger on tap? I don't want to have to pay 2.85 for a bottle of the stuff, otherwise I would have gone to an off-license. A disgrace by Shepeard Neame.

Changed hands yet again. Now run by the most obsequious landlady ever. Last time was in there on a friday night there was about 6 people in, so about a 600% increase compared to past visits. Which is a shame as it's a lovely little pub.

The rousing war posters are a mix of Shepard Neame Spitfire adverts and Viz posters

A nice quiet boozer on the backstreets of Richmond. Friendly landlord, Brian, ask him about the time he was skewered by a fence pole.
