Re-opened as a community-owned freehouse a few months ago after an excellent refurbishment. The 4 handpulls available yeterday were Ramsbury Gold, West Berkshire Brewery's Good Old Boy, Hooky and Wild Weather's Big Muddy (which was my choice and very good it was too). Regular ciders are Stowford Press and Thatchers Green Goblin with a box of Lambourn Valley's Shefford Gold also on sale. We had a good chat with the landlord Monty and regular customer Nigel (whom we also came across later in the John O'Gaunt!). Menu looked good but we were just passing through. Recommended.

Drove past the other day and the Tally Ho was closed and boarded up. Sad.

My husband and I have been here several times as we live quite near by.
This is a really nice traditional pub but also has a restaurant area. The menu offers hearty British favourites, locally sourced where possible and quite delcious.- great after a nice country walk. An area where many pubs fail is the coffee, but this was also good and strong!( My husband says the 6X is very good too)
One thing I particularly noticed - it may seem trivial to some, but the ladies loos are really pretty with mood lights and fresh flowers! Someone has obviously taken a lot of care to over the details here - so different to many other pubs.
The staff are also very friendly. The landlord was particularly helpful on one ocasion where there was a slight mishap with a missing pair of walking boots - even offering to drive us home! The traditional British pub is alive and well here.

What a lovely place. The owners were friendly, charming and helpful. They made us feel as if it was our local (or at least wished it was our local!) - and we had only stopped for lunch! The food was lovely, freshly made and promptly served. Wonderful!!!

Everything was clean and well-presented.

We will stop again - and soon!

Dropped in for a quick one on a weekday afternoon. The place was empty but the manager was friendly and the beer well-kept. Normally I find Wadworth's beers pretty average, but here the 6X was very good. Worth a visit.

One of those rare finds that restores your faith in the British pub. We rolled up at 2.35pm on Saturday afternoon - 5 mins after food had stopped. The landlady (Carlsberg don't do landladies but if they did.....) made all us very welcome and offered to keep the kitchen open whilst we order. The classic "sit yourselves down, I'll bring your drinks over" approach and such a refreshing change from the grunts and groans of other establishments these days. Excellent selection of beer, we went for the 6x which was in top condition. The food was fresh, good portions and well presented. The fish and chips were excellent - two chunks pieces of fish, not a bone in sight and light crispy chips. The freshly carved ham off the bone also looked good. We'll be making a special trip back to the warm and child friendly Tally-Ho.

not bad on a summers day, but avoid the food.
