Charles Wells pub on the outskirts of Cambridge. There's not too much to recommend about this pub. There are many better pubs in this fine city. Bar staff seemed a bit aloof. Ales were Wells Eagle IPA & Bombardier Burning Gold, McEwans IPA, Courage Directors & Black Sheep Best Bitter. There's a small outdoor area with seating and a table football game - strange to see it outdoors! Not worth the jaunt here.

We stumbled across this pub while looking for somewhere to watch the Germany v Holland match in the 2012 European Championships and it fitted the bill perfectly. A capacious floor allows one plenty of room and the pizzas that are a cornerstone of the menu were an enjoyable accompaniment to a pint of Black Sheep. Good, and service is affable.

Nothing wrong with Rory he is a great guy.

What's wrong with Rory McGrath?
|
If you see a tall guy around 60 with fuzzy hair that would be Rory McGrath who lives near by and is often seen on his bicycle around the town.
Apart from that its not a bad pub.

This is a really nice pub atmosphere with fantsic honest food and drink, plus some good ales. The new owners and manager have helped bring the pub into the 21st century. I regularly eat and drink at the Red Bull with friends. Top stuff! 10/10 Get down there and check it out for ya self. P.S Check out the Red Bull Pizza........

New manager Shaun is lovely and welcomes you into a friendly atmosphere. They were unfortunate with the old manager who wasn't right for the position and this caused a problem. It's now a thriving pub! It's been my local for quite a few years and as such I've seen atleast 3 landlords. I can honestly say that since the refurb it is now a really pleasant place to go. Give this place a go. They are children friendly and it's 2 for 1 pizza's on a monday so that's good if you've got a family. They don't just do pizza's (homemade soups, burgers etc.) They've got a good wine selection also. Parking isn't a problem. You can pull in after work and meet your mates. The outside seeting area makes for a good time. This is a bonus for the local area. I really recommend it!

The landlord that these people refer to is no longer at The Red Bull. The one before that, that knew how to run a pub unfortunately went bankrupt despite knowing what he was doing. The pub is going through a major refurbishment with current owners Simon & Gaye Stephens-Young from The Rupert Brooke in Grantchester which is due to be completed on Friday 23rd May.
The new manager is Shaun, chef Adam and the rest of the team look forward to welcoming you into a much more appealing pub in Newnham. Four real ales, good wine by the glass and bottle, wide selection of draught products and spirits. Come down and enjoy the atmosphere.

An unprofessional landlord that bars you if you comment on anything! Bring back the old landlord as he knew how to run a local pub.If you are visiting Newnham, stay clear of the Red Bull!

Chinese whispers indeed! New Landlord, bad attitude, empty pub! This isn't my local thank God but local gossip speaks of lots of muck hitting the fans. Guess I'll be in the Hat & Feathers next time I visit Newnham.

Appalling pub, don't go there. Miserable landlord who, if you complain about anything bars you. anaemic pizzas, high prices, no atmosphere. Until a few months ago this pub was run by a brilliant landlord, the atmosphere was great and the place was full of interesting locals and their friends from other areas. Now it has nothing.
